What questions should I ask owner of this 05' MCS?

Found this one on CL here in San Diego. Before I email him and set up a time to see it, I was hoping some of you could take a look at the ad, and see if it's a fair price for an 05' and also give me some tips on what to look for and questions to ask.

I appreciate any advice you all could give!

I had already read through that thread, BUT, I missed the link in post #8 regarding the list. Thank you!

So it's been for sale for awhile? It says it has an extended warranty, hopefully not a 3rd party type of one.

That's a good check list.

The car looks good form the photos, and the price is within the expected range for a private party sale (maybe even a bit low if it's in excellent condition). Either it's been for sale for quite a while, or the present owner bought it fairly recently. Either way, I'd try to learn why.

You've probably already thought of the following questions, but maybe you missed one. I'd ask about its service history, and if service records are available. How long has he had it, and how many previous owners? Does it sleep in a garage? Specifically which new tires, and what kind of warranty?

Good luck.

I would recommend asking to have a compression test and prepurchase inspection done before you buy it.

Yeah it's been up for a bit on and off. I would take it to All German Auto in Escondido and have them inspect it...or you could probably pay more and take it to the mini dealer in Escondido or in Kearney Mesa

You're a Mini owner living in SD so I'll take your suggestion......where would you take it if you were me?

* I also just saw this ad.....what do you think? I wonder how hard it's been driven.

Def get the car looked at by a mini centric garage...
The little $ things can add up...and give you negogating power...
Look for mods...or have the garage look for them...if they work on mini's they will know what to look for. If a car is worth buying, it is worth spending $ to make sure it is what the owner says.

Higher miles than the other one you were looking at right? and probably driven by a younger guy since it's in pendleton......I'd go after the one in la mesa....less modded and you can do whatever you want to it.
