...and the best part is, it only costs $48 to get a new one!

It would be cool if they came up with an electronically retractible antenna, instead of having to deal with the rather primitive screw on/screw off process.

If you're going to leave your car parked outside and not drive it for a few days, you might want to take that sucker off. I don't mind getting my valve stem caps stolen (BTW $17 to replace those), but losing the antenna's kind of a bummer.

Now maybe I'll try the Audi TT antenna, or perhaps the Hummer one if it fits. I know a lot of Golf/GTI people are buying Hummer antennas. They look kinda cool and work well.

...or go to your local Honda dealer and buy the Honda Odyssey antenna. It costs about $16.00 and is a perfect fit for the "shorty" antenna favored by many of us over the MINI's stock "RC car" one. Do a NAM search on "antenna" for other options.

I thought it was the Honda S2000 antenna that most people were using?? It might be the same as the Odyssey but I don't hang around Mini Vans too much .

My suggestion would be to pick up on of those new "Pissed off Pitbull Antennas". Be sure to firmly jam it on there (and then run) .

Unless you live where the radio signal is already **** poor you will be fine with a shorty antenna. And you will be VERY surprised how it changes the look of the car, even for something this small, for the better. I would never go back to the radio controlled car looking antenna!

the s2000 one fits nice and was only 14 bucks on line some where.....or you just go car shopping late at night and find one on the ground. lol but the vibs have the same one as we do so maybe chevy sells theres cheaper? sorry to hear all the bad luck. that is the one thing no one has taken off my car...cross fingers, knock on wood....but the valve stem caps i think walk off by them shelf. they are always missing.

I'm always amazed that this comes up time and time again when the antenna thread is repeated... There is little relationship between an antenna's exterior length and its abilty to receive stations!! Think about it, if this were a fixed relationship, wouldn't all car antennas in the US be the same length. We're all trying to get the same stations/frequencies, right? Further, how do you think that the shark-fin antenna on nav-equipped MINIs works? Same radio in the nav-equipped cars as those without. Clearly antennas can be many different lengths and work equally as well.
