R50/53 Washington DC Auto Show
The week after Xmas is always the time of the DC Auto Show. Elizabeth and I spent last Sunday touring the event. For me the hits of the show were some exotic cars like a Rolls
and a Lambo Murcialaga
and a GT40 clone built in South Africa
The Mini booth was
IMHO
pretty disappointing
If you want to see my other pictures from the event, you can cruise over to my photo website.

If the new Mustang was the vehicle on the turntable, it was awesome although the Mercury Concept car was probably the looker of the show.
I respectfully disagree however, with the assessment concerning the MINI display as they had a good selection of vehicles out. Of course, like everyone else, I wished the convertible was there as well as a vehicle equipped with the new three-spoke wheel, but other than that, was actually better than the display at last year's show. They also gave out those neat trading cards.
On a bizzare note, though, the Sterling Mini Rep suggested that I check out the PT Cruiser stand to see how the MINI Convertible will look. Arrraaaggghhh!

The MINI Display's in L.A. the past 2 years have been ... Lame.

The International Auto Salon in April is what I really look forward to.
This year there were only about 6 MINIs. I can imagine what 2004 will bring!
(maybe we'll see MINI-Madness's 200+HP ride there?)

Chrisnl -- The Mustang GT was on a revolving pedestal. No toucheee -- no feeleee. But it looked great.
NCDave -- I agree that the new Mini trading cards were fun. The 4 cars they had on display were pure stock. The only "special" Mini in the whole show was the WBIG Yellow car on the top floor, and it was getting more attention than the official Mini stand in the basement. The good thing about the booth was that it was next to the Lemonade & Funnel Cake dispensery, the "rink" where Terminal Velocity (Bikers and skaters on ramps) and the toilets. But then I'm known to be a curmudgeon!
Clover & WCC -- The people manning the Mini booth appeared to be automotons. They enjoyed talking to each other while ignoring the visitors. Elizabeth had on her new "Pink Mini" shirt from Mini Swag and I had on a Mini pullover. They didn't even crack a smile to see two Mini enthusiasts looking over the booth.
Have a Happy New Year!
