JCW exhaust question

I was thinking about getting a new exhaust and was checking to see how much the old was is worth or if anyone would be interested in it. Its a john cooper works exhaust with about 30k miles on it so far. the resonator is removed but will be sold along with the exhaust.

Look at previous marketplace ads to get on idea on what used JCW exhausts sold for. I would guess about $300-$350 for yours.

w/o center pipe - new is around $650.00.

My used JCW rear section was $300.00 few years back.

Why replace the JCW? It's one of the parts of the car that John Cooper himself actually had input on with respect to the sound. He personally approved the final product.

And if it's a true JCW car, then I'd hang onto them. If you sell the car, having the original exhaust for the new owner might be a selling point.

yea very true. I might just hang onto it then. I want something a little louder so people are able to hear me then look around before they change lanes rather then just turning and coming very close to me...

'Sounds like the tire old saying among certain motorcyclists, "Loud pipes save lives."

Don't fool yourself, louder pipes do squat for safety. All they do, if too loud or obnoxious, is create ill will among the general population. We're seeing the effects of that in the motorcycling world where governments are trying to legislate against any kind of aftermaket exhaust for motorcycles. The same is coming for cars as well, you can bet on it.

However, if the new exhaust meets noise regs and isn't obnoxious in some other way, then go for it. I find my JCW exhaust to be just right. Of course, I do have a cabriolet so I can hear it better to begin with. But, to each, their own.

PM me if you want to sell. I've 147k on mine, and it's a bit tired.
