R50/53 Bumper Cars-Mini gets slammed into. Advice please?
Well about two weeks ago, during the first snow storm here in New Jersey I got into an accident when someone slid into mini's drivers side door. I was okay but i wanted to know if it was worth having BMW fix the door ($1200) dents or should i take it somewhere less expensive, does it matter? dont all AUTO BODY shops do the same type of job? will they get the color right? HELP!!

Sincerely in Angst,
^^^^^ i have to agree with you "all bodyshops are not a like"
but cheese is cheese
just because it's a BMW authorized bodyshop doesn't mean they won't cut corners
you should go to the bodyshop and see the work that there doing and make sure your comfortable with the people that are going to work on your kar
choose your bodyshop correctly,
just because the insurance is gonna pay, doesn't mean you shouldn't spend it correctly

I just got my Mini back form teh ship someone hit my back left side... Heres my advice., goto your mini dealer or call your service department and ask them who they send their cars too. most BMW/MINI dealers don't have true body shops, and they will out source the work, I suggest, asking them who they use.. if it's the other guys fault have him pay for it.. the guy that hit me was USAA which is fantastic they are fixing everything.. my total came out to well over 9k and it too 2 and half months to get the car back. The dealers and body shops don't carry a lot of the mini parts in stock.. this is common practice for ALL new cars, so a lot of peices are going to need to be shipped. a new wiring harness took 2.5 weeks to get from germany. The company that did mine did a great job and they where totally familiar with the mini becasue they're the ones who do all the work for my mini dealer in VA... Good luck hope your baby looks as good as new.. oh and if the other guy was at fault don't forget to get $$$ for teh MINI Deminished Value due to accident.
not familiar with the diminished value $$$ thing. Can u explain.
Yes, it was his fault and they are paying for it. But the reason i asked this question was because it is just a dent and it really isnt a matter of major repair, but like all of you said it is best to take it to BMW. I think thats the plan so far.
THANKS

don't cut corners if you want the job done right.
