This is the used car retail value I got from the Blue Book on a 12000 mile 03 MCS w/ Sport pkg. More that I paid for!?!

EDIT: Never mind, the link won't work. The Used Retail Value is: $24,620

Another oversight. The MCS profiled by Blue Book is a 2002 model. What gives? Someone give it a try and tell me I'm not crazy!!!

No, you're not crazy, fins. I guess we can't the the KBB value on the '03s until January, '04. Also, I noticed that they don't have an aero-package option, which'd add quite a bit, I'd think. Looks like the value will really hold, though!

I just went to the site

My 2002 has 28,000 miles on it.

The Kelly Blue Book Retail Value is $24,365 .
I paid.....$24,300 (pretax) in 07/2002

Sounds absolutely terrific, but I for one..... see it as ...suspect

Peace,
D

BT ..this estimate...DOES NOT INCLUDE..... the pulley, exhaust, ecu remap, sway bar, air intake, tinting.....

When I was in the market for a MCS, I noticed the price of a used MINI is almost the same as a new one.

I looked far and wide, about the best savings I could get on a 2003 MCS similarly equipped to what I wanted was about $1,000.... and that was with 10,000mi to 15,000mi... I figured, well, mmm, I'll buy it new!

cheers,

-Matt

KBB is so full of it.. it's a worthless publication and website. The real deal guys is to go to Cars.com and look at the Black Book listings... much more accurate to what a dealer will offer.

Looked at Cars.com, checked the Black Book--and MINIs aren't a choice. C'est la vie.

Perhaps you won't get KBB value from a dealer... but you could certainly get it from private party sale.

I take it no one saw the article [don't remember where i read it but i'll try to find it] and the MINI ranks in the top 5 for resale value? MINI beat out Porsche [Cattera] for resale value. MINI 117% Porsche 104%

I saw that over this past month.

I've never had much faith in KBB.com

For another quote, call your insurance agent and ask how much you would get if the car were totalled.

KBB.com, NADA and Edmunds, et al are not realistic when looking for trade in values of cars. Private sale is another matter as you never know what someone is willing to pay. But as for dealer trade ins you can take 15% off the KBB, etc price just for starters regardless of the condition or mileage of the car.

'course if you read the definition of the "retail" quote provided on the site, that number is what you can expect the dealer to CHARGE for a used car. Not what the dealer would give you for trade-in.

So that number really isn't a good gauge of what your car is worth for a trade in to begin with.

There are enough MINIs on the used market that it makes more sense to check with Auto-Trader, e-bay motors etc... to see what they are actually going for than what KBB says... Since those are a much better reflection of what the market is doing...

Anyone wanting to know the Black Book value of their MINI on Cars.com? Just do a search for used MINIs and select a MINI from the list, then select more details at the bottom of the page. The more details page will have a selection for Black Book value. Hope that helps someone.

It's amazing how well these cars are holding their values. I'm worried that as the reliability rankings (poor) of the MINI become more widespread that the resale value will fall sharply over the next year.

I am hoping to trade in on a 2005 MCS next year. One can only hope that BMW improves the reliability of the car. I know mine rattles like crazy at redline. The whole car lights up with several rattles and buzzes that myself nor the mechanic can trace down. He said it was a very common complaint. I grit my teeth and live with it because I love the car. I hate explaining squeaks rattles and buzzes to friends and family though. My Mother in law was scared the brakes would fail because they squeak so much! They all say and/or think the same thing: "typical English car"...

It's a love hate relationship that's for sure. BMW keep my resale high! So I can buy an "S"!!!! I want more power!!!
