R50/53 Mini compilation CD?
I just picked up a book about the new Mini, and it mentions this:
"MINI has also partnered with Rhino records to put together compilation CDs of different types of music so that an owner can choose one that best fits their interest. It will be in the CD player when the car is delivered."
I've never heard of this before... did anyone actually get this? The book also says they will ask for our favorite radio stations to pre-program in the memory presets, which so far hasn't happened for me (and mine should be here in a week or two).

You should get an email from Miniusa.com (if they have your email), and it's called "The Mini Mind Meld" email. There are half a dozen questions including the ones you mention that allow you to choose certain programmable options done at your dealer while the car is being prepped for delivery. The choices in cd's aren't all that great, but the effort they've made is pretty cool nonetheless.
I got my email after my car got scheduled for production.

Mine came via e-mail, too. BTW, the CD choices didn't really fit my musical tastes, so bring you own CD to listen to, IMHO. Programming stations is a snap, too, so if you don't get the e-mail don't fret too much. But if you "want it all" call your MA. Aren't ya getting excited?!?!?!?!!?!?
PS - one of my station choices couldn't even be picked up where my dealer was located. If that's the case for you it might be best to learn the simple steps for programming stations yourself anyway....just in case!

Got the email (part of the Mind Meld email, where you select your settings for the car, like DRL's on or off, automatic door locking, radio station preferences, etc.)...I responded to it...never got the CD, either in the car or in the mail...

I got a package from Mini Canada that included a CD labelled "in case of awkward silence created by boring passengers." It also contained a small business card with excuses to give the police when stopped for speeding, such as "I thought you were racing me," and "I was trying to get a bug off my windshield." The last part of the package was a small round sign that said "Sorry" and a tongue depressor. You fit the sign on the end of the tongue depressor and flash it at motorists in the case of you cutting them off or other speedy maneuvering that may have caused road rage.
Oh yeah, and a double parking sign to keep the meter man from ticketing you
Very cute kit, but the CD sucked. Real bad homogenous mix. I expected some upbeat techno or cutting edge stuff combined with some classix. It had some top 40 crap - Shawn Mullins, Finger Eleven, and the washed up Edwin, Wyclef Jean doing Stayin Alive by the Beegees - PUKE
