You are SO lucky! I followed your advice and called the dealer...no such luck...it's STILL at the VPC and the workorder hasn't been completed. The dealer said possibly next Monday! AAARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!! I'm in northern Cal, maybe they are just waiting for more northern Cal MINIs so they can just deliver them all at one time? It's KILLING me!! So close, yet so far!!!

What's up with BMW Canada? Don't they want to sell me my MCS? First it's "lost" on the train from Halifax to Toronto, and now it sits, lonely and cold in their compound north of the city.

Why won't they take her to the dealer to get freshened up and ready to hit the streets?

MY MINI IS HERE. It came in at the dealer yesterday. It was on the Fidelio. Unforunately, I am going on vaction today an will not be able to pick it up til next saturday. I can hardly wait to get her, haven't named her yet. One thing that I ask my dealer is to make the driving lights independent of the other lights (i.e. I can turn just the driving lights on). He said he will check so I will update you when I get it next week. Motor ON!

 

OK - 'nother update!

Not only is My Sharona in the BMW compound, north of Toronto, but my suspicion has been confirmed - she's LONELY!

My dealer (MINI Woodbridge) advised me that it's not that BMW is reluctant to sell me the car, they're just waiting for a "load" to deliver to the dealer.

A "load" is 20 cars!

HA! They're waiting for 20 MINIs for the one dealer before they ship My Sharona out. Hhmmnnnnnn.......how long might that take? They said from 2 to 7 days! It might not be so bad because this MINI dealer is associated with a nearby BMW dealer. Maybe they'll get 18 Bimmers and 2 MINIs - so my anxiety will be removed.

My last comment to the sales manager was "Can't you just go get her?". He's checking! Yeah, it's a Friday. Who's going out of their way on a weekend?

He did say he knew the car and was happy I was excited!

As of today over 4,000 views of the November Club posts. Wow - who would have expected. It'll be cool when we finally hit our total number and none of us have anything to add. All our baby's will have been happily delivered - even those who appear to be AWOL!!

This is THE week for a lot of November Club members. The Aida has carried a lot of our members' babys a long way from the birthing room - and it appears to be cruising the east coast. And more ships are right behind.

The hard lesson we're learning is the boat is only one of the many legs of this trip. Factory to dock, to boat, to quality control, to train or truck, and again to truck to dealer.

The time lag on each step is frustrating - and inconsistent from city to city.

Oh well, we just keep waiting. Let's not fill in the transfer forms to the December Club quite yet.

These Clubs are a great support group. I wonder who'll kick of the January Club? I personally refuse to join! Just because My Sharona appears to be stuck in the mud in the BMW playground, or is she being held for ransom by those BMW Canada meanies? Hhhmmmm...........

Rygold, I'm POSITIVE you won't have to become a charter member of the January club... but it does look like we'll be hanging together with the December gang. My ship's arrival keeps getting put back... it's 11/29 now-- so that puts me squarely into December. So we get Xmas babies-- that's okay!

I'll go first - even though my MCS is lonely and alone in a compound north of Toronto. I'm ever hopeful - it's actually only now hitting my two month mark from order to anticipated delivery. So although I've whined about My Sharona being AWOL a couple of times, I expect to be out this week.

Called this morning and nothing changed. It appears that there was still one outstanding issue(sounds ominous to me) at the VPC. My salesperson isn't in yet, so I left her a message.

I'd love to play, but have to get my car first. I've added my fair share of the 4000+ views of this thread while passing the days waiting on Flik to arrive. He was supposed to arrive at the dealer on 11/23, but I've been unable to contact anybody this morning. I get the common "they're all in a sales meeting". The WW site doesn't even show my car as having been unloaded from the Fidelio (although I know it was unloaded on 11/16).

I'm hoping to leave the club on 11/29. I saw my first MINI on the street yesterday! A DS MCS with black roof. Maybe that's an omen that we'll all eventually get our cars.

Like some of you, I don't know if this means it simply left for the dealer or the car should be at the dealer. I have heard from my dealer this morning about the 1% state tax increase on 12/1 (I can't pay until they take delivery), but he didn't reply to my questions about the whereabouts of my MINI as of yet. I'm in INDIANA - hoping to have mu MINI by the weekend (Yes, wishful thinking but it could happen I suppose). This thread has been very helpful but I WANT OUT OF THE CLUB TOO!

Here's the update:

BMW is releasing My Sharona from their "holding cell" to the dealer today or tomorrow. As long as the Aero Grill I ordered is in the MINI Woodbridge parts department, it'll be clear sailing for an exit from this Club later this week.

If the grill is not in stock I'll take delivery anyway and go back for the addition in a week or so. Anything to drive this baby prior to our next snow storm. I refuse to drive from the dealer to the snow tire store. I need some miles first.

Mine had an estimated arrival date to the dealer of today, the 25th! I called ASK MINI this morning and it still HAS NOT left the VPC!!! What is the holdup??? THe lady couldn't tell me anything, nor could she provide me with a new estimated delivery date! I wanted to drive it down to Palm Springs for Thanksgiving, but it doesn't look like that will happen as I am leaving on Wednesday morning!

Oh man...that puts me in the December club now! even if it does come in later this week, I will be out of town until Sunday, and the dealership is closed Sunday!!

Anyone else on the Tai Shan to the west coast have this problem and are located in northern CA????

I've called them a few too many times over the past couple of weeks. And from my prior posts you know they've held my MCS captive in a compound north of civilization, much to my chagrin.

I'm officially out of the club. My baby arrived on the Falstaff on the 14th into NJ and I finally got the call this past saturday. I would have had it sooner if the fine folks at Mini of the Hamptons worked sundays, but the wait was worth it. I took over the keys about 5pm tonight and after the first 65 miles, pure bliss. The car is a blast. If it wasn't for this great site I don't think I would have made it. Thank you and happy motoring...

Work was finally finished at the VPC late yesterday or early this morning. With the holiday I probably won't see it until Monday.

 

I'm still at the VPC in NJ. I may have to spend a few days in the DECEMBER club and pay a 1% tax increase! (Around $200). Indiana state tax goes up on 12/1 and the dealear can't officially sell the car until it arrives on the lot. I hope that the rate they give me is a good one. They have a rate of 3.99 on their 2002 models. It looks like they really want to rid themselves of "Old" stock.

Two months and two days - and I'm proud to say:

I'M OUTA THIS STINKIN' CLUB!!

Yep, My Sharona is home - safe and gorgeous.

Liquid Yellow MCS, Black Roof and Mirrors, Black Bonnet Stripes and Black Aero Grill make her look "mahvelous".

I can't believe how great all that black trim makes the yellow MINI look. And she rides nice too!!

She had only 10 km (about 6 miles) on her when I picked her up. The dealer's salesman (Chris at MINI Woodbridge, Toronto) was great. He spent a lot of time with me and went over all the cool stuff and operational gadgetry. (Did you know the headlights are self-levelling and move when you turn them on, or turn on the brights? Cool!).

The first drive was more-or-less in Toronto traffic - so nothing special. Tomorrow, however, I'm doing a 250 mile roadtrip. That will get the bugs out of my driving and let My Sharona show me her stuff.

I know, watch the revs and the speed limit - and vary the speed from time to time. The MCS is my 15th or 16th car, so I've been here before - but it's been a long time since I was this EXCITED!

First Report:

This car wants to ROCK - keepin' the revs down is killin' me! You November Club members still in the house - I know the waiting sucks - but your first 100 miles make it all seem worthwhile. The MCS is a stinger - it just wants to move out and leave everyone behind.

The exhaust note is sweet, even in the car. There's a lot of stuff to play with, that's for sure. The weather in Toronto is freezing so I'm getting pretty good at the heater controls. That should be easy, but I've never had an auto-climate control before, so there's little lights that come on all over the place. I think I prefer manual heating/cooling.

How about the radio? 18 AM and 18 FM presets (if I've figured it out right). I don't know that many stations. (0ops - not quite - I just read the audio manual, there's other stuff going on here!).

The CD is great, and the sound system (standard, not HK upgrade) is clean and loud.

Now I'll read the owner's manual!
