R50/53 Thank you MINIhune!
Had to single out MINIhune to thank him separately for all the amazing, invaluable, kind and extremely generous advice and assistance he provided me all week long with his extensive knowledge and insider information! He made it possible to gain enough info to find the right MINI before I'm completely carless! And as you all know, it's tough to make all the right choices when there are so many options in this seller's market. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I'll be motoring in a couple weeks!
Yep minihune is one of a kind. He even helped me locate my MCS . The Ca dealers all told me of a 6 to 8th month wait, but minihune found just the car I wanted at the dealership in Hawaii. A big thanks minihune

OK,
I agree MINIhune is a nice person. Here's the real test though. If my wife and I can come up with enough money for a ticket to Hawaii, will he find us a cheap place to stay for 7-10 days? I'll be happy to wash and wax his MINI in return.

Lee Ann,
Mahalo for starting this thread but no thanks needed. I'm happy that you did find a good match for yourself before the end of the year and before your old car failed. I was in the same boat with a 12 year old van that didn't want to be happy anymore so I picked up a MINI. What a difference.
We only were working/searching for your MINI for a little more than 24 hours. Fine job and don't forget to let us know how it all works out for you. Post some pictures with your big smile- that will be worth the effort to see that!

resmini,
Aren't you the sneaky one. (I already know that MiniClo was sneaky too.) You wouldn't know how to install the reduction pulley on an MCS or two, would you? Never mind-I can't seem to convince enough people that this is a good thing anyway- still working at it. It's like selling encyclopedias.
Finding you a place to stay in Hawaii is not as hard as you think. Cheap is a relative term but if you PM me I can suggest various things that might help. I'd need to know some particulars like which island and if you like to be near or far from the other tourists.
Washing and waxing my MINI I do personally. No need for help there. It is a pleasure to keep my MINI clean. Also a great time for me to check everything and know what is up. From practice I know just about every scratch/ding/flaw my MINI has endured. Good for character but not as pretty as when new. Just gives me an excuse for an aerokit and new paint job someday.
Thanks all for the kind words and please do keep helping others when you can. Most of what I learned I got from reading all the older posts on NAM. It takes time but there is really good stuff most of the time.
Even the silly posts are fun.
