R50/53 Took the Plunge & Ordered
Hi, everybody! After months of waiting, saving, & paying off the wife's car, I finally went down to Mini of Pittsburgh this morning and placed my order. (By the way, John W. at the dealership was incredibly helpful, not just today but also over the past few months) Here's the spec: CR/W (how God intended Minis to look- and I'm a minister so I should know), silver 16-in 5 stars, CVT, black cloth seats (sorry all you leather & leatherette fans), and silver dash. Now the real waiting begins!
Hi, Patrick- They said the standard 7-10 weeks. But it seems like some folks are getting their Minis on the short side of that & since I'm on the east coast (kind of), I have my fingers crossed.
Me too me too! I ordered a dark silver with black MCS from Mini at the Hamptons. I live in Phoenix and am going to have to go the delivery route. The scottsdale (phoenix area MINI dealer) said 7-9 months! HA!. So I'll be having mine delivered. If my calendar wasn't so busy this time of year, I'd be flying there to drive it back. Anyway, now, I'm packing my free hours with activities to keep my mind off the car, and it's probably not going to work. I think I'm going to name my car 'Train'.
Congrats Timmons! I guess you found a way to shoehorn yourself into the MINI after all. Don't worry, once you're in it you won't want to get out.
And Train is a cool name.

Congrats on placing your order Pipes&Drums (sounds like Blue Man Group!) I love how the Kaleido black cloth looks, enjoy!
also, if you're "only" 6'2", I'm a "munchkin" 5'8"
I also drive with the seat raised almost all the way, otherwise I can't see over the wheel <--joking!
Cheers,
Ryan

Congratulations on your CVT order...you'll love the car!
May I suggest you reconsidering the Interior Silver trim? It scratches like crazy, no matter how careful you are with it. Culprits are the unlacquered silver painted surfaces such as the interior door panel pulls and the center dashboard legs. The local factory MINI rep acknowledged to me that the Silver interior trim is of VERY POOR QUALITY!
Switch your oder to Anthracite trim. Yeah it looks darker, but the car looks miles better inside and the Anthracite trim is of very high quality and much more resistant to scratches. I have it in my '04 CR/W MCS and love it!.
Let's not even get into the Cloth vs Leatherette seats...I think cloth stinks (Literally) and after owning 2 MINIs with leatherette, I will never go back to stinky cloth seats.
Anyway, welcome to the club!

Pipes&Drums,
Congrats on your order. It is true that the silver finish dash does scratch-be careful. The anthracite is more durable but also quite a bit darker overall-be sure to see it in a MINI before you switch your order.
Enjoy your MINI -it will be a quick 6-7 weeks for you.

Hi, Cooper4us-
Thanks for the suggestion re: the silver trim. I debated about this after reading some of the anti-silver posts, but after seeing both on Minis at the dealership, I had to go with the silver. I really like the contrast it provides in the interior & the anthracite was just too dark for me. So, I guess I'll just be really careful with the silver.
