I orded my MCS a couple of weeks ago, and am scheduled for production first week in Dec. Apparently I can still change color choice if I want to. Right now I hace ordered Indy Blue Metallic, but am considering switching to Chilli Red. The wrinkle is that I plan to use a cooper flags Union Jack roof graphic which seems to look a little better on the Blue.

Opinions anyone?

Is the discontinuation of the Blue a good thing or bad thing? I guess it adds to uniqueness, but begs the question of why discontinue, does it not look as good as other colors?

Spend the $400 on something else and get CR/W.

I always think CR.W is way over done.

I'd go with the blue.

The union jack looks best on indi blue, IMHO. Also, IB will soon be gone. Definitely IB.

Words of wisdom there. Save the $400 by switching metallic IB to solid CR. Red is a fast color and one that is VERY MINI, specially with white contrasting roof.

My baby is Indy blue with white roof & mirrors (plus a sunroof). My friend also bought a MCS same week as me (we test drove one together). He got the metallic silver with black trim.

When we go out driving (which we do alot), wherever we park crowds gather and tend to hover more around my car than his (he's jealous) I guess it's the two tone although the blue is indescribable when I've washed & waxed it.

BTW we're both over 30, I am married w/2 kids (3 now)

Welcome to North American Motoring, ministrone. There are LOTS of women members here, and as a female Moderator on this site, I would gently suggest that you refrain from referring to women as "cows." May as well get back onto the right footing here...

Cheers!

I can say for sure that the Union Jack looks really good with Chili Red!
Here's Mr Bridger - today I've had him 2 weeks!
Chili Red is one really happy color!

Here's a good photo of his Union Jack, but you can't see his stripes!

I've got a PS/B MC, as I wanted something a bit understated when I bought my first MINI late last year. As time went by, I came to think that there was no better looking MINI than IB/W. I was SURE that would be my next choice. I'm now in the postition to be able to get my next MINI, and a funny thing has happened. Over the past couple of months, whenever I look at a group of MINI's, I find that w/out fail, my eyes are always drawn to the CR/W models in the picture. The contrast and the brightness have won me over, and I've got a JCW equipped CR/W MCS on order. I've got plenty of time to change my mind, but every time I'm tempted, I look at some pics and I'm completely sure again.
Don't know if that helps any, but I do know that the UJ flag on a CR/W looks absolutely killer.

Well, this is tough decision. Lets look at it.

Union Jack- good choice, very british. be sure to order a MINI with the white roof and doesn't matter if you have the sunroof or not. There are vinyl flags for with and without the sunroof. UJ looks good in both CR and IB. Just a matter of preference.

Cost- $400 for IB metallic is still $$$. A consideration.

Discontinued Indi Blue- only a rumor yet but could happen. Not because the color isn't good but that they make changes and replacements. If it is stopped then the IB MINIs will be in more demand and more rare but it is a common color.

Living with Indi Blue- I have IB/W and love it. Harder to maintain it looking perfect but I get lots of compliments. Shows some dirt, easy to scratch and swirl, shows water spots, soft finish that gets chipped in the front easily. I never get tired of the color. Could be worse, my other car is black.

Chili Red-If the most popular color and a classic. Not metallic so shows less water spots and scratches. Attracts more attention from police. Looks good on the road. CR/W is super common but with the UJ flag is less so.

In the end- I'd pick IB. 2nd choice CR also very nice. By the way I have Lapis blue leather interior which I like alot.
For CR I like the cordoba leather.

Just to be clear... I'm not into slagging women, my cow reference was not to women but to a singular woman. Is there a PC preferred insult you'd rather me use on her dopey-eyed, slow-minded, MCS-unawaredness?

Ah, I've met people like this.....
Just try to be as sensitive as you can to the population here on NAM (very diverse) or we might get a visit from Wicked Wanda...and that ain't pretty!!!

PS - Wanda is COMPLETELY MCS-aware!!!!!!

I notice you've only posted 6 times. I think she was just trying to nip your lack of PC awareness in the butt lest you get completely out of control.

Um, I think you meant "in the bud" not "in the butt." Nipping butts is defintely not PC, unless you have prior butt nipping consent from the nippee. Yippee!

Oh, and back on the topic, Indi Blue is a fantastic color. (See sig below )

I don't think you can go wrong either way. It's just a matter of how loud you want the car to be. CR says "HEY!!!" whereas IB says "Hey!"

I have to throw my $0.02 in and say go for the IB. The UJ and US flags look spectacular on the blue (but then I guess I'm a little biased )!

I too was torn between IB and CR. I picked up my MCS in Sept. I had wanted IB for a very long time, but at the last minute I choose CR. Even after I choose the CR I wasn't sure I made the right choice. WHen my MCS was delivered I knew I had made the right choice and I am VERY VERY HAPPY.

Now that I have the CR I'm glad I choose it. Don't get me wrong IB is an awesome color too, but everyone seems to have it. I like my cars to stand out and Red stands out more than Blue, and besides I already have a blue car.

If calling someone a cow is unacceptable, what kind of world are we in???
Would you be as upset if I was referring to my rather large friend as a moose?

Indy Blue with white is best! Especially with white wheels!

Well, at 8 blue to 5 red, it seems that the blues have it. Of course who knows what I'm going to end up doing. I'm even still thinking of Yellow/Black (but my wife will kill me, and there's no way a Union Jack would work with that)......

Decisions, decisions. I imagine I'll just let my indecision decide for me and leave it as the original order in Blue (Red does look awesome though....)

Thanks for all the opinions.
