R50/53 Do you still wave...
wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave, wave!
Hell yeah! One of the reasons I got the car! GREAT people.

I'm new to NAM :)
In LA almost every driver wears their SUNGLASSES, even if it's not too bright. It must be part of the uniform, haha.
I even wear mine, but I've conceded to wear really lightly tinted ones so people can still see my eyes.
As many MINIs as there are, I've never been waved at by fellow MINI. There's just so many, it's just another car to most people. I smile at almost every MINI I see. They're EVERYWHERE, so I'm smiling a lot.
I've never waved or honked or flashed my lights... though I've always wanted to.
I love MINIs! Whenever I see one while parking, I always stop what I'm doing to give it a quick once over. They're hard to ignore aren't they?
What was really awesome was when I spotted an older woman in a BRG/W MC in my rear view. She had like 2 dozen different stuffed animals sitting on her dash. That was just so cute I had to give her a friendly wave. The awesomeness stopped there. She pulled into the lane next to mine and zipped right past me.
I once got a wave once from a girl in a black G37, kinda. This was when I still drove a GTI. I was stuck in traffic behind her and she gave me a "rock on" and nodded her pinky and index fingers at me a few times (if that makes any sense). I was so surprised that I had to think about it for a second before I grinned and gave her a peace sign. That made my day. I was smiling all the way to the market. (Literally, I went to the grocery store after that).
I get more people waving from the street than anything else. Just the other day, this woman was crossing the street and pointed at my MINI with the biggest smile on her face I just had to smile back. She was in a big crowd of people too! I gave her a wave and she waved back. That got me so warm and fuzzy I even told some friends about it at dinner that night.
After reading this thread, I'll have to do my part to "save the wave." Next time I see a MINI, I'll make the biggest fuss just to get a wave back. I don't care if I look like an idiot. You can't take yourself so seriously all the time.

Saw one MINI tonight on the way to dinner and the passenger was staring right at me and the driver didn't even notice me. I waved the entire time they turned (probably took them 10 seconds) and no knowledge or decency to wave back or smile or anything. sad night. :(
I totally wave. I even wave at people on the other side of the interstate from me. lol.. I tend to agree, I've found it a trend that women frequently dont wave back, but I've also noticed a trend that Justacoopers don't wave back. I get a lot more return waves from S's than from justacoopers. Wierd..

It feels like I've been waving like crazy these past few days, but all I seem to get are blank stares or weird faces. I got a wave from a soft-top VW bug on accident (I was in the left-turn lane, waving to a red Cooper driving by, who didn't even notice
), but no MINI reactions yet! I don't mind though, I'm having fun with it
Hey MRS JIMINNI! I checked out "week 19" but 40 pages is kinda heavy reading for me...
I'm relatively new to MINIs, but I've been scouring the threads for a while. I've had Blurple since June, and did a BUNCH of research before I bought her used at ~9k miles. She was born 10/08, so she's not new but she's new to me
She's at ~13k miles now. My job involves me picking up and delivering clothes all over town and back and forth between downtown LA and the SFV. Which is part of the reason I bought a MINI - lots of those "impossible" parking spots

Sounds like you are "new" to Minis (09, right?). You might get a kick out of Week 19 thread that has ongoing posts and a lot of good information. I am attaching the link for you and hope to see you in "week 19". Keep waving--you never know, you might start a fad in LA .

So I was having a long day the other day and on my way home from work I was at a stop light and as I went through there was a MINI coming the other way and we both did the most ridiculous arms out the window frantically wailing wave ever. It made my day
I was pretty upset the past two days...I was on the road for at least 6 hrs one day, and about the same the next; NONE of the MINIs I passed even looked my way. I have reflective stripes - it's NOT like I'm trying to hide!!! One MINI that passed me had a vinyl wrap for some small dog-walking business - I tried to wave, and the chick in the passenger seat was as snobby as could be, and her body language was just mean. I wasn't trying to be her best friend, just friendly. Some people really make me mad.
Good thing I can come on here and know there ARE wavers out there. I'll keep hunting for you.
