I always wave and most of the time I get a wave in return.

 

Wave, point, and squeal with delight, "A Mini!". Yesterday another Mini did the same!

 

I always wave...but I live on an island where all the MINI owners pretty much know each other. I am happy to report that a new MINI to the island (w/ Texas plates) waved at me and I was more than happy to return the wave.

 

Yep! And finally had two waves back!

 

I usually throw up a peace sign without lifting my hand from the top of the steering wheel. That way those that are looking for a wave won't think I'm being rude, but it's low profile enough that non-wavers won't even see it. I feel like its a good compromise and keeps me from feeling awkward...

 

Still always excited to see another MINI. Still always wave and still get the quizzical stare that says, who is that obnoxious female??

There's TONS of minis in my area, most seem to just be A to B cars for the drivers however, I havent gotten a single wave or look in my first 2 weeks of ownership. Coming from the VW/BMW camp, it seems weird to me how few seem to be enthusiasts

 

i sold my 02 Cooper S back in 08 i believe.

to this day, i still give a thumbs up to nearly every MINI I see.

I have stopped at a rest area and talked to some folks who had Minis.

I don't wave in My Mini but I have been waving in my Jeep to another Jeep drivers since 1998 and I have never had people think I am crazy and I get a wave back 9 times out of 10 in Fort Mill, SC.

 

Got my first thumbs up in forever. (here in NorCal MINIs are the second most popular car behind BMW so waving is rare).

Speaking of Jeep waves - Jeep drivers tend to wave back a bunch too. I'll wave at both MINIs and Jeeps when I'm in my Jeep...and so far I've had a pretty good wave return rate - probably on the order of 8/10.

 

I'm a new Mini owner as of October 2012, so I'm still pretty excited about being part of the fun that I always wave!

Relocating from SoCal to the Bay Area (That's San Francisco for non-US residents), I found that like BMWs, there are way too many MINI's to count! Most are "A-to-B daily drivers"* and it's kind of pointless to wave to everyone. However, if I see personalize plates or obvious mods, I usually wave.

*(you can tell by the brake dust.)

 

i was following a blue MINI out on 88 last week but sadly didn't get a wave. The guy totally ignored me, I know he saw me because I was all up in his butt to get him to move over so I could pass. But a white sedan we passed had both the driver AND passenger waving at me! Made up for the snob

 

Not much of a response anymore though. As mentioned, maybe we are just not as unique as we used to be. I did recently get the nod from an Abarth Fiat driver and gave the nod back. Oh, he was a male driver and I did not feel threatened in anyway. Happy motoring...

Got my 1st wave today and I didn't even wave 1st :-)

 

I've had my MINI for almost 2 months and have only gotten 2 waves back. I'll keep waving.

 

Same here about 2 months for me owning my mini.I just keep waving but no luck. So. Cal is a tough crowd in general though.
