I had a conversation the other day with my sales guy. He said Mini dealers providing loaners is just internet rumor. I have read that places like Mini of the Hamptons and others do provide them. Could you guys/gals give me an idea of who does?

New Country (Hartford CT) says they issue loaners.

 

Dreyer & Reinbold in Indianapolis gives me vouchers to use at Enterprise car rental which is located next door. (They may own it.)

I have been told Ferman Mini in Tampa does, but I have not confirmed this.

Yes New Country Motors will provide loaners. You can reserve a loaner, or they will come come and get your car at your house and return it when done. I think this is within 35 miles.

At Motor City Mini, my understanding is they give out loaners if it is
warranty work (or scheduled service) overnight. During the day, nope,
no loaners.

For work you pay for, sometimes they can arrange a shuttle for
fairly close places (take you back/pickup). But unless you want to
pay Enterprise for a car, no dice.

FYI- THe last three enterprise rental car's I've had were complete
crap. A 2001 Saturn SL, dirty and 45,000mi, a 2000 Chevy Astro with
a rag for a gas cap (took a photo of this and sent it to their headquarters-
managed me a $100 rental voucher after my lawyer put my letter on his
letterhead :smile: and a new Caviler, condition was
fine. But absolutely base, only option was automatic trans. Thats it...

Must be my good looks (yea right!) or maybe the gods were looking after me, but I did get a BMW 3 series loaner (328i 5-spd.) at no cost to me when my MCS was in the shop for an overnight warranty repair. There is hope for others too, just be nice to your service person and maybe you'll get a loaner like I did. The dealer was Cincinnati MINI, FYI.

Baron MINI let me know when my MINI was delivered, that if I come in for service they wont be able to loan out MINI's

 

Baron MINI in Merriam, KS (Kansas City Metro Area) has loaner cars, for both scheduled maintenance and for overnight repairs. They have provided me with a BMW 3 series for both one day and three day time periods. It is necessary to make an appointment ahead of time so they can schedule a loaner for you.

 

MINI of Pittsburgh provides loaners--you just have to call ahead and reserve one. So you're at the mercy of availability, but you can still get one.

I'd print out this thread and take it to your service advisor.

My dealer, Lauderdale MINI in Ft Lauderdale, FL, does provide loaners for service. They have 3 new MINI Coopers (2 5-speeds and 1 CVT) for loaners plus a few BMW 325i's and the customary rental cars from Enterprise.

Tell your MA that he needs to get out more and see the real world.

 

I think it's based on the dealership. The dealer in San Antonio said that they don't provide loaner cars for warranty work. I would guess, however, that if a dealership does provide loaner cars, it's probably only for work that keeps the car overnight. Most warranties read that way.

I don't have my manual handy, does anybody know if it says anything about it in the warranty section?

MINI of North Scottsdale does not - I've already paid over 50 bux in rental cars (about $5 a day). I got them to comp the last rental car I had, I wasn't going to pay for having that Alero for 12 days!!!

 

Schomp MINI in Denver has one or two MINI CVTs available as loaners by reservation. After hearing some of the sales and service complaints about dealers I'm glad to have gotten mine from Schomp - they're terrific.

 

It seems to me that the dealers located in the Western states seem to offer the worst level of service..am I wrong?

 

I've received a loaner from (2) different dealers - Nielo in Sacramento (MCS) and MINI of Mt. View (Grand Prix). Both instances were for overnight warranty work. I didn't have to reserve them - both dealers offered them to me.
I have also used the shuttle service for 1-day maintenance work - my destination was 35-miles away, outside the shuttle range, but they didn't make a fuss about taking me.

 

Northwest MINI in Fife, A has loaners -- sometimes free, sometimes a nominal charge, depending on the circumstance of your visit.

Are western US MINI dealers consistently worse? I don't think so -- NW MINI and Murray MINI in Utah check out well. Most of the bad stories about western US dealers seem to come from Southern California and the Bay Area and involve holdup pricing, arrogant salesmen, etc. That's just big city syndrome -- you get the same sorts of stories from Miami and Manhattan.

At MINI of Hawaii it is the same as above- MINI loaners are really demo MINIs if available. For warranty work overnight or for sustained warranty work then a BMW loaner.

They do provide shuttle service but only for the metro Honolulu area up to Honolulu international airport which is not far enough for me- some 22 miles away.

I have used a MINI CVT loaner for a day overnight before. Warranty work.

 

When I bought my car from Moritz BMW in Arlington Texas they advised that they would pick up and drop off the car when it was serviced. Of course, when I requested this for warranty work they said that is was only available for non-warranty work. They said they would provide a loaner when the warranty service lasted longer than 1 day but of course wouldnt know this until the end of the day. What a great dealer.

 

Midwestern Mini in Dublin, Ohio don't, even if the car is left overnight. When mine went in they simply said they didn't do loaners for repair work. Is this your dealership too buckeye MCS?

It sure is.

 

South Motors MINI in Miami provided me w/ an Enterprise car for 48 hours with a warrenty repair. Freebie, baby. Nasty Dodge, tho. So its not just a Big City Thing here in the south.

 

Crevier MINI in SoCal gives BMW loaners out (up to 2 per year) when needed for extended service visits. right now I'm tooling around in a 330i while getting ECU reprogrammed among other things.

 

i havent had the same experience at MINI of hawaii.

the first time my car went in for 3 days (clutch repair), i had a rental car (and had to pay extra to have an upgraded car).

when my car went in last week for 6 days (a/c repair) they called enterprise but b/c they were closed, they were forced to give me a bmw loaner. when they called me yesterday, they were really adamant about "returning the bmw b/c it doesnt belong to their service team."
