Power Steering Questions (CA)

Drove my car home and noticed that the steering was getting heavier and heavier until it died. I parked it in my garage waited over night and I didn't see anything leaking so I figure the pump just died

I am in CA and my local guy said the pump was over 500 and that he would have to take the front end out, realign etc...sounded so much for a pump...

anyone replace a local pump in southern california what was the cost?

hi im in southern california..willing to take my car anywhere in southern california

i was using a local guy until he told me last night he needed to take the front end out...realign etc to change the pump...i really trusted this mini guy but after reading posts this guy seems like he just wanted to take advantage of me :( man im so disappointed...i know everyone needs to make a living but just because im a female not cool...thanks to this lovely board i saved probably well over 400 dollars!

I agree with buzzsaw, then.
See Danny at MINI Corsa. He'll take good care of you.
Tell him you heard it here!

thanks guys...you rock!

okay break it to me...this is what ive done on the car within 1k
new brakes
new transmission
and now going to do the pump

what else is the mini prone to..what else should i expect to break? im thinking about trading it in for a new car if i should expect another big component to break...lets face it the CVT tranny and pump are known issues (like it or not BMW)
