Solid deal, but if you have any extra cash you can get something with significantly lower miles for a couple thousand more. I picked up an 03 s with 67k miles for $11,000 with a 2 month warranty recently.

Thanks for the reply! Anyone else have any thoughts? It has a clean title. Owner said he just replaced clutch, pads and discs front and rear, and power steering pump.
Thanks

I wouldn't get it.

Cheap price, but it's likely to cost you $$$$ in the long run. 2002's were the first year of the new design and known to have the most problems. I'd maybe pay 7800 for it, but you'd probably be better off going with a 2003-2004 with high miles for around 10k.

I'm in California and most S are going for $12,500 with about 75,000 miles.
Thanks

Did the guy have the receipts for maintenance and repair work? Any kind of logs? Does the car have any mods? The s/c might be near the end of it's life. If you buy, you should change the fluid in it (quite involved).

Here's some high mileage Mini info that may shed more light on the subject. Good luck.

I purchased a non S HT 5 speed with 119250 miles for $6,800... In sunny California, I think an extra 2k for the S is reasonable, make sure is not salvage, good luck...

As long as it's a clean title, and a clean car, it's a great deal! If you pass on it, please PM me the info as I have a potential buyer for it in CA.

Although the '02s may have had issues in the beginning, which is similar to just about any newly manufactured car, it's now 2009 and all those problems have been weeded out and addressed under warranty or via repair. Good luck with your potential purchase!

Hello,
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I purchased the mini and spent yesterday doing oil and filter change (Red Line), transmission fluid change (Red Line), ignition coil, plugs and wires.
Thanks
