05 MCSa with broken dipstick
any ideas on how to get it out....only 4 inches left on the handle, but don't see it in the tube...could it have migrated into the oilpan ? any help would be greatly appreciated----scanner
You have to find out if the tube is removable. If yes, you're in luck. If no, I think the oil pan has to be dropped.
Yes... The tube is removable.. It has an "O" ring, sealing it to the engine block... I know, because mine was leaking. Tough job removing the tube, though... Gotta take apart most of the front end just to get to it.
Mine broke like at 3 or 4 inches in there, I took it out with a 4 Prong Tool Claw. You can pick one up at any parts store or tool store for like $5 bucks. You have to flatten the prongs simply by smashing them to fit down oil plug. Then put it down and pull on the spring handle to grab broken piece.
