05 MCSa with broken dipstick

any ideas on how to get it out....only 4 inches left on the handle, but don't see it in the tube...could it have migrated into the oilpan ? any help would be greatly appreciated----scanner

You have to find out if the tube is removable. If yes, you're in luck. If no, I think the oil pan has to be dropped.

Yes... The tube is removable.. It has an "O" ring, sealing it to the engine block... I know, because mine was leaking. Tough job removing the tube, though... Gotta take apart most of the front end just to get to it.

Someone should start a list of what problems/repairs require the removal of the front end.

Mine broke like at 3 or 4 inches in there, I took it out with a 4 Prong Tool Claw. You can pick one up at any parts store or tool store for like $5 bucks. You have to flatten the prongs simply by smashing them to fit down oil plug. Then put it down and pull on the spring handle to grab broken piece.

This is a really cool tool. Definitely better than pulling the front end apart.
