Hey!

My MCS came with a jack! The dealer told me they had never seen that before. I was wondering if anyone else got a jack with their MCS?

Cool! i wonder if this has anyhting to do with the Jack point issues? What was your production date? Maybe they realized that jacks are important for things other than a flat tire, and decided to include them in later production models?

That'd be nice; mine was just built today! Wheee!

I'm not exactly positive about the production date, but I think it was about 8/23 or so. I was really trying hard to live a normal life while I waited for my car so I didn't call and find exactly when it was built - OK, OK, I didn't know about the ask-mini number until a week or 2 before I got my car.

What was the problem with the jack point?

Look in "under the bonnet" I believe.. topic is something like "jack point fails" or something to that extent. Involved a problem caused by not using the factory jack, only MCS models don't normally come with one, so...

MINIClo,

I have no idea.. I don't even know how to check. Owners lounge has no dates estimated for anyhting. *I* am hoping for a month, but I guess it'll probably be longer.

Where WAS the jack? I thought that it couldn't fit under the boot floor due to the position of the battery in the MCS. I looked at mine today (produced mid-July) and alas, no jack.

Look on your drivers side door latch area. Build date is there. Mine reads for example: 04/02

jsun, The jack is just in a little black nylon bag that is strapped down in the boot (drivers side). It doesn't take up too much space.

I used to drive a fairly big car and I am continued to be amazed at how un-small the MINI seems. I play Mr. Mom a lot lately and usually have a car full of kids. They all think it's so cool (it is). The only thing I'm missing is my old cupholder. I think I just need a different travel mug - like the ones from MINI Motorgear.

My dealer said the same thing - that the MCS doesn't usually have a jack. Mine does, and I think my production date was 8/21.

Unfortunately, the MINI motorgear travel mugs don't fit the front MINI cupholders.

I could have swore they had a mug that would fit in the front - the tiny 4 3/4" ones. Oh well - maybe there's an opportunity for a new business - MINI road gear

Is there really a jack there, or are you just seeing the typical MCS "bag of tricks" that is velcroed on the rear driver's side? It should just have a torx wrench, a screwdriver, a tow hook and some pin doo-dad.

There is really a jack there. It is not hidden away behind the little panel, but instead strapped down to the boot floor between the passenger side pair of tiedown rings.

I was just curious if all the more recent builds would have this.

Nope, I didn't get that. I just got the little bag with the screwdriver. My prod date was the middle of August, 2002.

Gee...I really I wish that I'd gotten the jack as it will be useful I'm sure at some point in my ownership. I wonder what MINI has to say about this (I can't expect any sort of reasonable answer from a dealer or service dept). I'll ask and post back if there's anything interesting.
