questions about tensioner

i have about 124k on my 04 mcs, no major issues thus far..(knockin on wood now), question is should i replace my tensioner or just buy a stop for it! im planning on doing a 15% pully soon anyway, just dont know if i should spend the money on a tensioner too, also where can one get an 05 mcs stock crank pully, or should i stick with the "if it aint broke, dont fix it ". 90 % of my mile are highway miles, so i drive alot and would not like to be stuck on side of road!!

I was in Morristown Mini last week to buy a tensioner and belt. They talked me out of buying the tensioner as they said they simply don't see many bad ones at all. Artoo (2003 S) has 90,000 miles and they said they change belts on Mini's with more miles than that and don't change the tensioner. Since it's a bit of a pain to change I went with the belt only.

We'll see.

If it is still working just buy the stop.

+1 for the stop. Especially if you go with the 15% pulley.

$20 stop is cheap insurance

Just put a 17% and the stop on my 05 Works. You already have to take off the tensioner to put a new pulley on anyway, and it takes maybe 2 minutes (most of the time finding the 13mm wrench) to install. Just think of how nice it will be not worrying about all those parts you would need to fix/replace if the stock stop were to fail!

Have fun with your new 15%! Hope you get a CAI too, you'll never use your radio again when you can hear the BOV opening, then the whine, the the BOV close - music, absolutely music.

If you can find a club in your area, odds are there is a mechanic in the bunch that would be willing and very able to do the mod for a case of beer, or a 1/5 of Malibu in my situation

The pulley is not that tough a job if you take your time and you will become addicted. For the exhaust, I would suggest the one-ball. Its a cheap mod and is not too loud.
