Need advice if this is a good buy...2003 MCS w/ 21K miles
Hi,
Newbie here strongly considering buying a MCS. My past toys have been Mustang GT's, Camaro SS's and Buick Grand National's so the MCS will be a major change although I am ready for something new.
I found a 2003 MCS one owner with 21K miles. Car is a 6 speed, moon roof package, white roof & mirrors, dark silver with white stripes, black leather and factory mini lite styled wheels. No accident history, no winter driving, etc. The car is perfect (I am a perfectionist & car detailer so I am VERY picky). Car can be bought for $14,000.
Is this a fair price for the car???
I am open to all suggestions since I am not too familiar w/ the Mini's.
Thanks...

just realize... i came from an 01 ford Cobra and although I love my Mini; quality, build, etc... it is nowhere near the power performance of a V8. If you are ready for that then no problem, just be prepared.
Thanks for the replies.
slocraiger: I just sold an 11 second Turbo Regal so I can relate to the difference in power levels. I want something different and the MCS have intrigued me and everyone says they are a blast.

And don't forget you can get some major power out of the MCS engine. Maybe not on the V8 level, but enough to put an even bigger grin on your face.

Where is it, because I'd buy it???
I have my 560RWHP GTO to satisfy my need for speed, but I can't drive around town winding out the engine because it gets attention.
They are complete opposites, but both are a blast to drive.

Great news. I know the miles are low but I'd change the coolant and flush the brakes unless you know they were on top of the maintenance.
The GTO with a suspension handles pretty dam well. Is your buddy on ls1gto?

Very fair price, MCS might be anemic in terms or torque compared to V8, like the saying goes theres no replacement for displacement. Although, they are very different cars, MCS is a blast when it comes to cornering, but its a momentum car. Even a tuned 260 wheel horse power MINI feels different than a V8.
I was impressed with the GTO's handling characteristics, I thought it was gonna be a pig.
