Countdown computer to Inspection I

At what number will the dealer do the inspection I? If I recall correctly with my 05 MCS they wanted it under 250, but I can't remember! I thought I read here on the forum that they'd do it under 1000?

Anyone know for sure?

Ladidah, I just called Motorwerks Mini in Bloomington, MN to ask the same question. I was told that they'd like to see the counter under 500.

The maintenance warranty on my 06 MC ends in 5 weeks, and I've got under 1000 miles on the counter. I think I'll just squeak under the line for Inspection 1.

Very Interesting that you should ask this now ....

On my 02 (bought new in 02) yes ... they wanted the counter under 200 miles before they'd schedule thru pre-paid maintenance. Exceptions could be made for special circumstances but generally...inside of 200 miles was my {dealer} experience for the 02 I drove 'til WELL past 'pre-pay'.

NOW I have an 07 and am retired {and use a different dealer} so I drive MUCH less and my just about 2 year old car has just FINALLY announced SERVICE and this is with 1000 on the count down clock. So I'm guessing that when I call the dealer they will not balk at the car being serviced 1000 miles out since the car ASKED for it ...

{pre-payed service - once in a lifetime }

Thanks for the info.

I'd better get driving! I'm taking a lengthy trip next month and if I don't get it done before I go I'll need it on the road. I wonder if they will consider special circumstances?

Is there a Mini dealership near to where you'll be going? Maybe they could do the service?

There is, and it will be the dealership that originally sold the car (Ralph Schomp, in Denver). But I don't want to take time out of my vacation to get my car serviced. I'm going to try and get it into Motorwerks before I leave. I'm at 1750 on the countdown now.

UPDATE

I called my dealer today to schedule service but began by asking THE question. They answered that I should be inside of 500 miles for the service ...

OK - I'll wait, no problem

So you want to schedule a week later?

Oh no, I'll be weeks more...actually I bet I hit my 24 month 'annual' oil change before I get inside 500 miles for the service call

Hmmmm .... let me talk to the service manager .......

He says you can bring it in now for the service call....

SO

are they being nice and trying to save me grief and/or a trip

do they realize that I could get a free oil change at 24 months and a month later another as part of full service???? Dunno - I know that on my 02 when the first possibility happened they didn't bat an eye ....

- a moderatey low mile car - I'm just hitting Service #1 and the car is 23 months old

Ha! My car is a 2006 (09/06) and I'm just hitting the first service. I know it has probably been over a year for the oil change, but it obviously wasn't driven much before we bought it.

digging up a bit of an old thread, but I'm going in tomorrow for my Service I, and when Icalled to schedule I had about 250miles on the countdown, but they said I could've scheduled it anywhere below 1000. My dealer currently is Brecht MINI in Escondido, CA. Can't wait for MINI of San Diego in 2010, btw!
I wonder if they'll do ALL the things listed in the owner's manual for Your First Service I? Do they do it "like the book"? Basically, what should I be expecting?
Also, I'm psyched to be getting a loaner while they work on it...it'll be my first
