Tire Question

Ok, I have the Kyowa KR-628 size 17x7. What tire size options would I have in putting new tires on?
Thanks.
Phillip

I am running 215 45 17 with No rub at all, I have seen others run 225s but that depends on the wheel, and also the tire brand, as they all vary somewhat with the sizing

I have 215/40s no rub. Guy across the street has 215/45s. Rubs in turns so he trimmed the fenders.

215/45/17 with TSW springs - no rub and much more comfortable compare to the RF.now wheel gap between the wheel and fender is about 1" front & 0.25" back. almost perfect.

That is a stock size for MINI Cooper S, MINI uses 205/45-17 tire. It is a tough size to find though, so people opt for 215/40-17.
225 tire fits depending on suspension, I tried to fit 225/45 with no luck, man tire shop was very angry at me and wanted me to purchase them. Stick with 215/40 or 45-17. Try wheels and tires section here on Nam and Tire Rack has good selection of tires and research tools.

I have run 215/45 for years with NO rub at all. I have read that 225 may rub with some wheels. Offset probably makes a difference. Tire Rack is really great about advise of this sort. If I were you, I would call them. But before you do, get the offset number so that when they ask you that you will know it and not have to call back. I'm sure that unless you know that or they sell that wheel, they will not be able to predict whether a given size tire would rub or not. In addition, be aware that different tires -- even different models by the same maker -- that are spec'd the same nominal "225/45" or whatever, may have different diameters and different cross sections so that in nominal sizes that are close to the upper limit, one might rub while another might not. I believe 225 is in that category.

Good luck.

I know that 225/40-17 Hoosier track tires fit 17x7 wheels, but the only other summer tire is the Nitto NT555, but was not sure of them since a read less than stellar reviews.
