I currently have an '03 MCS with a spun main bearing. After we tore the bottom half apart to access the damage we started to search for parts and/ or engines. What is with the parts cost for these engines. I have prices of $700-800 for just rod and main bearings!! This is unbelievable to say the least.
I then checked for a take out engine and find that these engines go for on average $3K for a decent one WITHOUT supercharger which everyone seems to remove and part out seperately. How the hell are you supposed to repair these engines when something like this happens??
Does anyone have a good source for internal rebuild parts??

...and yes, I have checked for a replacement engine everwhere. I can buy two (2), that's right 2 late model Mercedes V8's for less than the cost of a low mileage Mini 4 cylinder. Every other used engine out there is about 1/2 of what a used Mini is going for.
I think the market has us Mini owners by the you know what.
Even transmissions go for 2K. Utterly ridiculous!

Any help out there.......?
