Farewell '05MCS: Hello 135 and Depends.

My friends on NAM. I carefully selected the new owner of my '05 MCS. I will miss BUD. Sad to see him go. BUT, I just picked up my new 135 CR/Taupe Manual. The HP/Torque even under 4,500 rpm's is bladder squeezing (I am soon to be 66). Prior to my MINI I had an '01 Vette. I got to missing that slammed back in the seat feeling. I thought I had outgrown that. It appears not yet. Prior to the Vette I had a modded '98 Z28 camarro and prior to that a modded '91 5.0 Mustang. So you see where I am coming from. Anyways, had I the room, I would have kept BUD. If you haven't had the opportunity go by your BMW dealer and drive a 135. You can talk all you want about twisties, but 95% of my driving doesn't involve them. All the best. Nick

Sorry, I am w/o a digital camera/phone and am a little Internet/high tech challenged. If you go over on 1addicts.com there are pictures galore. Nick

Lucky you sir! Enjoy that 135, when it's time for a replacement daily car for me, that's at the top of my list. Did you go with a 6MT or the Shiftronic (whatever BMW is calling the auto now)?

Trading ? Consider a used M3 or Z4... there are bargins!

Greetings all,

I was in the market to trade my 05 MCS on a new MCS and/or a 135i, but once a started looking around at the dealer lots and auctions I discovered quite a number of late-model M3s, z4s, 3-series etc that had been traded or lease-returned. Many of them are in steller shape, probably weekend drivers. The financing deals right now are excellent.

Anyway for around $31K I found a Z4M with 1,762 miles on it. Roadster. 330HP inline six, black on black. It's a good time to buy used if you buy smart. There are alot of deals in the trade-in market right now.

I sometimes miss the MCS but the s54 motor makes me grin...

6MT. I have never had an auto transmission on any of my many cars over the last nearly 45 yrs! Yikes, that scares me. My wife has an '09 128 with auto. It is neat--but I am old fashion enough to still enjoy rowing through the gears. The 135 is a great car. I am very pleased with my decision. I went from a Vette to a MINI in 8/04. Had to learn how to handle the reduced HP and not take too many chances. I am finding it easier to re-learn what it is like to go from 0-60 under 5 seconds! Nick

"Bud" is having fun!

DoubleNick and gang, Nick's '05 MCS is happy in his new garage and happier yet continuing to be able to go out and help his owner have a fun motoring day Due to a busy schedule and poor weather for a few days, I had not had a chance to use Bud for commuting or play. However, that is beginning to change and my grin factor is improving immensely. Nick really took wonderful care of this car. Bob Schilling, TLH, Florida

A week with my 135--the Red Baron--has been great. The car is amazing. You can be in 4th gear going 30-35 and just accelerate--no need to shift to third. That is 300 ft lbs of torque from 1400 to 5000 rpms--linear. Never drove a car like this. Nick
