2005 MCS Driving Light "Holes"

I've had my 2005 MCS for less than a month and noticed that where the factory driving lights would be there are holes, but there appears to be round, louvered pieces inside there - they move around which makes me think they were knocked out at some point. I assumed these holes vented something if it did not have driving lights, but now don't think that's the case.

Before I take off the front bumper cover to investigate further, does anyone have an idea of what's inside there? If driving lights weren't ordered with the vehicle, were there just little, black plastic pieces there?

simple dummy pieces to take the place of the fog lights. Vented for less resistance to wind.

The OEM lights aren't that great - they look good though. There are others that while they may take some fabricating of bracketry to make fit, would work better. Check www.rallylights.com... and good luck!

As said before, they do look good. There is a genuine factory retofit kit you can buy from MINI.

They're OEM fog light holes, I've got the plastic blank plates, they've 3 plastic tabs. The OEM retrofit kit takes about 4-6hrs and requires a trip to the dealer for activation.

Are there any tricks to get the blank plates back into the holes without removing the bumper?
