R50/53 most overdone color scheme
With so few mini's in this great big wonderful world, it's hard to say I could see too many of a certain color, but here at mco, it sometimes seems everyone get either ds/b, cr/w or eb/w. In fact, I've seen so many eb/w's here, that I've decided to go with eb/eb, just to be different. Of course, I think it's a great look too. Just wondering if anybody else has noticed that you rarely see certain color combos and others you see all the time.

>>Have seen very few cr/b MINIs. You guessed it ... that's mine!
I used to reallly like that color combo but when I was 17 I repainted my ceiling in a red and black checkerboard pattern. It took forever and I had to stare at this ceiling that now looked like the floor in some sort of Tom Petty /Alice in Wonderland video nightmare.

Actually this past sunday at the fort lauderdale mini meet i saw several very unique color combinations!! No 2 minis were exactly alike!! They were great!!!
The three most unique (IMO) were the Silk green, the liquid yellow w/ liquid yellow roof, and the chili red with the chili red roof!!(i chose these because there was only ONE of each out of about 45-50 minis!) There are also two others, which weren't the most unique because others had a similar color scheme.... but they are personal favorites..... i LOVE the electric blue with the black roof, and the chili red with the black roof!!
There was also a chili red, w/ a white roof that had the black and white checkers... but instead of the rear spoiler being white like the roof, it was red! I thought that was pretty sharp!! I imagined the red spoiler being on the black roof instead!! I thought that would look hot!!

All MINIs are beautiful, I agree, but Red/White seems overly abundant. I'm all redded out myself. I thought the pure silver/black was going to be rare, but it's as common as red/white almost. That's where "personalizing" your MINI comes into play. If I had it to do over, I'd still get the same color combo, no matter how popluar I knew it was going to be- I bought the car to please myself. Body-colored roofs are becoming more popular, so that won't be so rare soon. I wonder what the nationwide stats are for MINI colors. That would be very interesting to see.
All redded out... geesh... )... I like the Chili Red with the white bits, i think it looks slick speeding down the highway, and the other red in my area w/o stripes looks like it's totally missing something... And the silver blends in too much... between the grey roads and all the other silver cars in my area...
but personally, i'm not a huge fan of the body-colored roof. It just seems so lacking in something... maybe some bunting...

Well I can see that no one mentioned my soon-to-be-S... ib/w, b/c the first ib/w S's are being made this month (including mine!), so I guess mine is the most unique!!!

We ordered EB/White top, paritally because the Electric Blue is only available in the S model. Of the 78 that the Indianapolis dealer has sold since they opened in July, only 5 where Electric Blue. Seems like the one's I've seen around here are like most other cars, Red and Yellow.

I knew going in that the pure silver/black would be a very popular combination, but I have actually seen less of that combo than some others. For example at the last meet we had, there were three pure silvers out of 28 Minis and only two of them were pure silver/black (the third was solid pure silver). The most popular color around here seems to be chili red(there were 7 of those all of them with white tops except for one solid), electric blue/white and dark silver/white (there were 4 of each of those). The only color I have never seen outside a meet....Pepper White.

Our Pepper White/Black Roof MINI seems to be the least common color here in our neck of the woods. Also in this category are Velvet Red and to an extent Silk Green Metallic. Cosmos Black and solid Black Coopers are a dime in a dozen as well.
Mostly every MINI buyer picks Indy Blue, Chili Red, Pure/Dark Silver, BRG and Liquid Yellow.
According to MINI, there are 2 new exterior color choices to be offered in 2003 (Bringing the total color palette to 14): Solid Gold and Candy Blue. I have not seen either one so I can't comment whether these are agreeable with the MINI lines or not.
Contrary to the rumors in the internet, Silk Green will continue to be offered in 2003 along the 2 new aforementioned color choices.

In the new Mini book there is a gold Mini and I am assuming that it is the Solid Gold....if so as far as gold goes it looks nice....gold is not a very me color.....all my jewelry is silver, as is my Mini.
That is great that the silk green will still be offered...such a wonderful color!
You are right about the pepper white....I know one couple that has one and I have never even so much has seen one on a dealer lot. I would think that I would have seen more Indie Blues in my area, but I have seen less than I have seen in Velvet Red.....
I have never ever seen a Cosmos Black and have no idea what it looks like....is it cool?

Cosmos Black is a metallic finish while regular black is a solid non-metallic finish. I saw a Cosmos Black Cooper with white roof last sunday at Ft. Lauderdale's MINI Meet and it was quite nice. But like all black finishes, these are typically a pain to maintain and require frequent washing. Also in our S.Fla weather an all black MINI si not really a good idea.
I have never seen a solid black Cooper (Including roof). With the right tints it must look like a stealth jet fighter.

I totally agree. If I wanted a body-colored roof, I'd get a "normal" car. It just seems that since it's rare to be able to get a different colored roof on a car, I should get a different color!

When I ordered my MINI I was hoping to have a very unique car for my area. I live in a rural community, popn. 7000 and 2 1/2 hours from the closest MINI dealer. Now I've heard rumors that the same car I ordered (PS/B) is roaming about town!
So I'm thinking of changing my panther black leather to red cloth (even though I much prefer the leather) just to make mine a little different. Wish MINI offered a red leather interior!

Virtually the only cars I've seen on the road so far are either ds/b or yellow/b. I was a bit disappointed in Mini's interpretation of nearly all the colors. The BRG isn't a true BRG at all, EB is too metallic, yellow looks kinda washed out, white wasn't available on an S. That left me with red. I just personally do not like the black roof at all, and intended to go with a red roof, anticipating an abundance of r/w cars. Pure silver w/silver roof was my second choice. Then my wife and I saw a r/w S in the showroom when we went for a test drive. It looked great, and she thought it gave it more of a classic old Mini look, so that's what we got.
