You can only plot to one address at a time, no waypoints. You can't scroll the map around, but you can change the scale.

Entering addresses is realitively easy. Turn the **** to the letter (or number) you want and press it to select. It is a little cumbersome but not hard.

My biggest issue with the MINI Nav system is that it could and should be much more intuitive to use than it actually is...

Oh but you can! There is an option to "input destination" on the map directly. From that menu you can scroll the map around to where you want to go and zoom in and out.

It would be nice if you could put in Lat and Long. Also a "favorite city's" type of list would help if you use big ones a lot (like Chicago for me). Maybe Voice activation, but that stuff is so hard to get right, especially for people with accents (AKA "goats&quot.

I actually think MINI's Nav system is fairly user friendly and well designed.
It really doesn't have that many functions, but because of it, it is simple to learn and use.
MINI unwrapped CD has a few very good short movies demonstrating how to use it. It also comes with a manual, although I have never found it online.
I think the best way to learn is to just sit in a car with Nav for 10 minutes.

And, using the save address / address book function you CAN enter multiple addresses, but you can only access (get directions) to one at a time (which makes logical sense if you think about it).

It's not the most intuitive system I've used. I found the touch-screen system on Acura's much nicer. But I do like it.

Wish I was driving the Mini last night when I ran into 2 detours on the way out for 2 separate accidents

Rent a car from Hertz with their NeverLost system and you'll think otherwise. Heck if the little selector wheel on the MINI's Nav system was actually a joystick it would be easier to use.

Don't get me wrong, I like my Nav system and I'm glad I ordered it. I just think it could have been a whole lot better.

If you go to information, you can then choose from different options like hotels restaurants, gas, schools, police, dealerships, hospitals, golf courses, etc...

Does anyone know when the new/updated cd comes out?

Lou - I called the company that makes the CDs (NAVTECH) and they could not answer the question. The person I spoke with promised to call me back with an answer - that was four weeks ago . . . no answer. I also sent them an email and got NO response. Hopefully MINI will pick a better supplier of navigation software with next year's model.

Dittos...I would add that it kinda sucks. Sat in a mere Jag at work and they have touch screen that let's you go to where ever you touch on the screen and in 3d. Still, I'm happy to have that than a pizza sized speedo. Hope they can improve it with software. I mean...can they give us a screen with just a bunch of digital or digital/analog read outs of all the vitals...DUH (oil, water, boost, whatever).
