Seat belt problem

Wanted to bounce this one off you guys since this is the beginning and end of Mini information.

But this weekend I was moving some stuff from my apartment into a home I just purchased and I had a big box strapped in with the seat belt in the passenger seat and when I unhooked the seat belt, it got away from me and slid back into place with it still hooked around the seat height adjustment arm.

So now the seat belt is looped around the seat height arm and locked in place, no matter how gently I try to pull the seat belt to get some slack and unhook the belt from the arm I just can't get it loose.

What is you guys' best scenario to unhook my trapped seat belt?

I was thinking one of two things, (least invasive) Undo the bolt that holds the seat belt anchor into the floor of the car and unhook it, or disassemble the seat height arm and remove that sliding the seat belt off the hook.

Let me know! I need help because this is now not allowing me to carry a passenger or get anyone into the back seat from that side :(

Thanks for anything anyone has to offer!

Seat is all the way back and can't go any further... that was my first instinct.

Seat adjust lever is REALLY easy to remove. We've replaced one already when it was broken off by catching pant leg.

*I accidentally posted under my husband's log in... he was last one logged in. I am "Miniola"... I was the one that replaced the seat lever.

The bottom seatbelt anchor is also mega easy to remove. It's just 1 big torx bolt.

Thanks very much Miniola! I just wanted to find the least destructive way to fix it and it worked out VERY well! Two screws is all that hold the lever on and i popped the plastic off got those out and freed the belt.

I knew the Mini forums was the place to ask this question, thanks guys!

kaja- Looks like Crisis Averted! Although I changed the height lever (because I had to)... it looks like AstroBlackS has the easier option for your problem! I had to remove 3 or 4 bolts I think... and pop a cap back on ... still easy though. Something to keep in mind when you rip that part off by accident!

Me too! My son was getting pissed because he had to ride in the back seat yesterday and today. Now I am a little wiser about my Mini!
