2004 Cooper S drivers seat

I have a 2004 Cooper S. My drivers’ side seat feels as though it clicks into place even when it has not been moved or adjusted. It shifts forward when coming to a stop and then shifts back when accelerating like it is clicking into place. Any solutions? Thanks

Might need a move to Stock Problems/Issues, probably will get more help there.

Get a flashlight and check out the mechanical workings under the seat, you may have something stuck in the notch causing the lock to not completely sit. The end of french fry or something could probably get stuck in there or something.

I just saw this same issue in another thread, but I can't find it right now.

One possibility that another post brought up was that possibly the two seat rails aren't quite parallel, and the seat is only engaging in one of the tracks until acceleration/deceleration causes it to "click" into place on the other track.

On your car, does it continually "click" into place again and again during a single trip as you repeatedly stop and accelerate? Or does it just do it once?

I have had this problem for the three years I have had my MINI. If I move the seat I will feel this 'click into place' within a couple of miles.
I have looked over the seat a number of times and not found the cause. The end result is that I expect the 'click' and have mostly gotten over it. Nothing is loose and the seat functions just like it should.
Not much help to the OP but at least you are not alone.

I like my R53 sport seats but MINI went cheap on the actual seat adjustment mechanisms.

When I was rear ended years ago, my seat had a similar click click in the seat back. I solved it by adjusting the pitch to a new notch and it is as good as new. If I go back to that old notch, it is loose again.
