I just checked the 2005 Owner's Manual, and there's no indicator light there.

On my 2002 it's tire pressure on the speedometer.

ON EDIT - On my 2002 tach its the ABS light.

I think the tire pressure indicator is on the speedometer, not the tach. Looking at the 2002 Owner's Manual, it appears that on the non-nav cars, the second spot from the right on the tach is the ABS light, and on nav-equipped cars, that spot on the tach is unused, just like the later cars.

That's really interesting, because I'm looking at the 2002 owner's manual right now, and it says that for non-nav cars, the tire pressure light is the second from the right in the speedometer, and for nav-equipped cars, the tire pressure light is in the digital display at the bottom of the tachometer.

If the tire pressure light in your 2002 is the second indicator from the right on the tachometer, I guess that was a change that didn't make it into the owner's manual. Regardless, in adrianr's 2005, that spot in the tach is unused.

It's very hot there, isn't it?
But that could be because you're pushin' very high RPMs......

Yes, you're right. I was thinking about the speedometer for some reason when I posted that. Today when I was driving I looked and thought that I may have misinterpreted what was asked for in this post.

Is it not the turn signal? I'm pretty sure my 03 MC had a turn signal there.

Since adrianr has the Chrono pack, his turn indicators are on the speedometer, not the tachometer.

On the 2003 MINI, the turn signal was on the tachometer if you didn't have the navigation option, but it was the furthest-right indicator, not the second indicator from the right as shown in the original post.

i dont think the missing light should be as much of a worry compared to the fact that i think your engine bay may be on fire with a temp reading of 333.3

This is a Mexican MINI = Euro spec.

I bet the high beams indicator is above the center in the speedo, which is calibrated in Kilometers per hour.

Not to mention exceeding redline by some 2100 RPM?

are there 2 seatbelt warnings like one for driver and another for passanger? maybe it can be that.
This is the other side of the crono (the ones missing are the turn signal indicator took the photo when they blinked out)

there might be nothing like other people said

Trust me - there's nothing there. I have a 2006 with the Chrono Kit, and the second "indicator light" from the right on the tach is just a dummy.

You can tell for yourself if you look at the indicator lights in bright daylight. On all of the functional lights, you can faintly see the pattern of the display icon even with the indicator light off. On the spot you're asking about, there's nothing there - it's just a blank with no icon.

Ack - I wish I had known there was one this weekend before I made other plans. I had a bunch of fun the last time I went, but I let my BMWCCA membership lapse since I'm only going to be here a few more months. So, I'm not on the mailing list any more.

Kill a few cones for me, though!

The Mexican spec MINI has the same dash layout as any other Euro spec MINI. The lights will differ from US spec cars.

True - they differ, but not much. Except for the cruise-control and high-beam indicator being swapped, adrianr's indicator layout from his photos is the same as the U.S.-spec layout in the Owner's Manual. (I'll have to go outside and compare his layout to mine - they may in fact be totally identical and the Owner's Manual is just wrong.)

Regardless, he doesn't have a burned-out bulb, and he's not missing any indicators.

I wouldn't be surprised if that spot served several different uses between models, options, and country configurations. I was thinking this since the MINI D should have a glow plug indicator somewhere and the tach would be the appropriate place.

Even though on modern diesels it only takes a second or two for the glow plugs to warm up it is still a good idea to have an indicator for them.

Another thing pertaining to modern diesels is usually a coolant lamp. Not the engine temp but just a lamp. Most of the european vehicles I have seen with diesels have this. It basically tells you when the engine has got to a safe operating temp to be driven a little harder. Usually the owners manual states to shift shallower in the RPM band until the light goes out. Diesels do take longer to warm up.

Anyway, after all of that, just a thought.

So I have a 2005 Mini, and my tire pressure light just lite up last night. I found this strange because I got new Blizzaks last month. Does this light sense the pressure in my new tires.

BTW I bought my Mini last summer, and thought it was great till the first snow came, then I decided it was the worst snow car I had ever driven. Now that I got the new Blizzaks, it it the best snow car I have ever driven! On a related question, does the steering tighten up after getting snow tires? Mine sure did!
