East coast RMW tunes?

I've tried to search for this, sorry in advance if it was right there and I missed it. But I was wondering if there is a schedule of RMW dyno tunes on the east coast. I just picked up my mini yesterday woo hoo!!! and I know that in a few months(or sooner if i have to) I will have all my parts together and be ready for a tune. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
I'm looking to do:
alta 15% pulley
alta CAI
cooler plugs
milltek catback
jcw injectors,
Thanks in advance.

Where are you located? Jan will be in Rochester the last week of April or first week of May.

Hey Larry, (newbs49), do you have a thread started anywhere for the potential Rochester tune? Would it be at Ecksten's Garage again?

Thanks, Jon.

YES it would be at Eksten's again. No thread started as Jan is checking his multiple schedules. Watch this post for more info and tentative sign-up's.

Serious interest here as well. I had just picked up my R53 last year when he was out this way and wasn't ready yet but all systems are go now. I can make either Rochester or Philly work.

Wandering Robot,

The dyno tune session I attended last spring in Rochester was at a shop called Ecksten's garage. Each tuning session was a slot about 1.5 hours, where Jan did his magic while each MINI performed repeated dyno runs. He needs all the time in that slot to properly tune your car, so it would be best to have your list of parts all fully installed well before the days Jan visits, just in case you weren't aware how this goes.

The shop I mentioned specializes in foreign performance car work, and can likely help you with any installs, but again, you would need to coordinate all those installs with the shop, WELL BEFORE JAN'S VISIT.

Hope that helps. I'm not trying to sound condescending at all, believe me; just trying to educate you on this, in case you didn't know. I do this because I didn't know how it worked either, when I did it last year. I didn't realize how tight the timing was for each person on the tune list, and how there's no time for anything but just tuning at the shop while Jan is visiting. There won't be any time for installing any go-fast goodies...

P.S., Don't forget about getting yourself a new belt for when you install your pulley. I recommend going through Detroit Tuned for that part. They sell ones perfectly sized for the smaller diameter pulley.

Oh no sir I understand, I would have all of my gofast goodies put on before then. I already have the intake, pulley, belt, and plugs in shipping. Probably go on in a few weeks. Then with taxes probably order milltek and get injectors before the tune. I have the means to get all of these things installed. I've researched a fair amount on these things and kept seeing that Jan was the man for the tuning job just never where he would be available so thats why I started this thread.

I'm having a friend help me out with the mods, but if we run into trouble you're my go to guy. I haven't bought the injectors or exhaust yet but was planning on getting them both from out motoring. They have the injectors for about $325 here. That is cheaper than other sites I've found, but if someone knows of a place for cheaper I'm all ears.(not actually all ears, only two but listening ones)

Are bigger injectors really necessary for a predominantly street-driven car (with 1 or 2 track days a year)?

Depends on what other mods you have or plan to have.

The stock injectors are sufficient with 15% pulley, intake, exhaust...as you add cam and header, you're flowing more air and thus more fuel, and are near the edge of the duty cycle for the OEMs... the JCW380s are a good investment at that point. With headwork and raised rev limit and tune, you can exceed the flow of the 380s - that's when Jan gets into the 440s and above...

Even with a 15% pulley/intake/exhaust, the 380s aren't a bad thing - they reduce the duty cycle that the injectors need to spray at the top end, which is good - but they require either a tune or at a minimum the OEM JCW ECU flash to flow properly.

Hi Paul,
Comments on the size of injectors has me wondering if I need to upgrade to 440's. Currently running 380's with header/cat/catback, 16% M7 pulley, GRS intercooler, Alta CAI ver 2 etc. Adding RWM cam, Thumper head. Hoping to get a Jan tune - in person if possible, remote if not. Do you think the 380's will be sufficient?

In Philly at Helix would be sweet. As soon as they open new shop, like a Grand Opening (slash BBQ) and RMW tune day, oh and some good PBC beer would be nice too. (Hint: Eric and Ralph ) Climate should be nicer by then.

I was hoping to have it done one day at Helix too but I'm thinking maybe it might be worth to drive ALL the way up to Rochester just so I can finally get this done. I've been talking about it for almost a year now!

I'm in for a tune @ Helix - will be picking up my car in a couple hours with the RMW street header and bumpstick freshly installed. Can't wait.

philly ain't happenin' soon guys

jan will be a couple of miles away in early may for the rolex series at njmsc...but from what my sources tell me the move/dyno is quite unlikely to be done then. which for me is actually a good thing, 'cause i'll be at the dragon! (as will the helix boys). i've just decided to put the "i gotta have a tune now" thing on the back burner....which allows for saving $....which i will promptly spend on more go fast bits....which jan will ultimately tie together
