R50/53 Not ANOTHER flame post!!!!!
That was just an attention getter, as this IS another flame post:

Above is Celeste with her new flames.
They are removable, magnetic material (thank you VooDooPope for the material!!!).
Came up with first design in Photoshop - crude, but to get a rough outline of flames. Next, I tried it out on my scale model first, to see how it might look. I liked it, and decided to go ahead with the full scale version.
Another look:

Whadday'all think???

You're right about the potential problems with the magnetic material, but they can be avoided.
First, it depends on what type of material you use. There is some that has a clearcoat on the bottom side. Then, it is important to let the material outgas after you get it, and wash it very well. I also rinsed it in iso-propanol. Hopefully (knock on wood, toc-toc-toc) I won't have problems. I will keep an eye on it though.

Welcome to miniconflagrationonline.com!
That's very well done, especially for magnetic material. Like Jerseygirl said, be careful with the material leaving traces of 'haze' in the paint. I heard of this happening to people who use their vehicles for businesses like real estate and such. The signs can sometimes haze the paint depending on how long they remain on and the quality of the paint itself. My suggestion would be to completely clean the backs of the signs with a good detergent to remove any solvents or coatings that might have been left on from the manufacturing processes. It couldnt hurt.
Flame On!
EDIT: Apologies for stating the obvious here as my replay was in the making during the above post!

Bitchin' Magnetic Flames Markus. Me like very much. Gonna go for a similar treatment around the intercooler intake? Congrats to your paisanos J. Trulli and G. Fisichella for a well driven 4th and 7th places in the USGP last week-end.

I got'em!

Just as a warning, the only issues is one that others have had here and here are with "gosting" when you remove the magnet. I usually did not have the "5" on for that long and it left a "ghost" image on the door, and the flames on the hood did no damage at all. I use them both quite often for shows and MINI drives. But with the suggestions from the lovely users I'm not worried and will try the 3M swirl remover when I get a chance. They did seem to be going away on their own as well.

Markus, I've never been one to hide my own ignorance and I'm thinking of getting magnetic bonnet stripes. I think I can guess what "outgas"ing is (letting gases escape prior to use?) but what is the process? Just letting them sit for some time? Prey tell?
Oh, and pile my "cool job" on with the others

hey ini,
outgassing is what happens after you eat a bean burrito...
sorry, couldn't resist.
Actually, outgassing is when a given material releases gas some time after manufacturing. Many materials do this, and the types of gas they release vary. For example, vinyls outgas a variety of softening compounds that are used in making them pliable and flexible. These are chemicals that can react with other substances (e.g. the clear coat of your car, or even the paint underneath the clear coat). Particle board outgasses formaldehyde, which is added at manufacturing to prevent rotting and mildew in the board.
WHat I did is simply to unroll the magnetic material and left it lying around bottom (black) side up just to give any remaining chemicals a chance to escape. I also placed the material in the sun behind windows to warm it up, which might speed up any outgassing. I washed the material (again, the bottom) with a mild soapy solution, and scrubbed it. After cutting it I rinsed it with isopropyl acohol (rubbing alcohol). I have no idea whether all this is necessary or helps with the ghosting some have experienced with the magnetic stick-ons. So far, no problems.
I'll report after some more time with the material.
Cheers,
Markus
