You've gotta be shitting me, right? Some random kid you've never seen before jumped on your hood?! What the hell is this world coming to. I would've beat the kid right then and there and / or gone up to the parents car and done the same thing he did to mine and then left. Unfortunately it's too late for that, good luck with everything.

That is SO horrible, not only that the [insert choice language here] kid was major disrespectful, but that the [explitive deleted] parents couldn't of denied responsibility more!

I'm so glad that you got their license plate numbers, and filed reports! Who cares if the cops and insurance are laughing now; for sure the insurance won't be laughing once they get the bill, and the cops won't be laughing when they're pushing your paperwork.

Best wishes getting your MINI back to pre-Brats-R-Us state.

These days it's amazing how many cameras there are, and possibly in a Toys-R-Us parking lot!!!! Contact them soon since they may not hold on to the tapes long!!!!

I feel for you. We had a similar situation with irresponsible parents at my "favorite" MINI dealership. Unfortunately, it was my boyfriend's brand new Jetta.

This ridiculously huge SUV parks next to us. Kid gets out of ridiculous SUV and wails his door into Jetta. Mom is sitting inside ridiculous SUV yapping on her cell phone. Dad has gotten out and walked off. When we confront the parents, the father first off doesn't believe us. Then when he sees that the door opens EXACTLY into the ding says, "Well what do you want me to do about it?" We start screaming and Mom now finally gets off the cell phone and starts yelling at me from inside the SUV. She starts to get out to confront me and I slam the door in her face. I was so mad, had she gotten out I was probably going to hit her so she's lucky I only slammed the door.

I can't stand irresponsible parents and it's even worse when their spoiled little brats cause damage to someone else's property and they ignore it. These jerks didn't even yell at the kid. Incredible.

Best of luck to you if you go after them!!!

You are all to kind. I parked behind them and insisted that they call the police. If they did not I would and then tell the police what happened and I want a police report written. That way you get the address of the person and then its pay back time!!!!

That's what I would have done, after I had cussed them out real quick. No good kids, I would teach mine better.

Missy, so sorry to hear about your MINI. I got very angry reading your post. This will be the same kid that someday will get into trouble with the police, and his parents will wonder "where did we go wrong?"

Today it seems there is no respect for one's property. It really makes me angry to hear about parents who blow stuff off like this like it's no big deal.

Again, sorry to hear about this. My hope is you get the insurance to take care of the damage, and your MINI back good as new. Good Luck to you.

Why in the H- E- double hockey sticks ( ) would that kid even think of doing that!!! If that were me, I KNOW I would have not let those people walk away from me (I probably would ahev gotten myself in trouble too). This story really gets me steamed! I don't think the police should have laughed at you either--this would have made me real mad. Don't let this go unresolved, afterall you witnessed the whole thing. Good luck.

Sometimes Karma works best when you give it a little help. You have their license plate number, which means you'll soon have their name and address. If your insurance company blows it off (if the damage is less than 1000 many opt to do just that) you can take them to small claims court.

But I would go a little further.

Subscribing them to every sort of magazine under the sun is fun too. Make sure to pump up the sleaze factor too. Once their name/address is in those lists, it's there for life!

First of all, that really sucks. And my heart is crying for your poor MINI right now. Fat kids must think they have the right to do anything!!!

Someone up there mentioned video surveilance. If you manage to get said incriminating video tape, I suggest you mail a copy to all the local news stations (as well as "Ripleys Believe it or Not" or some other home-video based TV program. Maybe you could win some $$$ from this very odd situation which promises to be somewhat comical to see on video. I mean come on, a 150lb kid bellyflopping on a MINI?!?! How often do you see something like that?!).

Everyone has been telling you what you "should have" done but didn't... so let me add my $0.02:

You should have body slammed HIM to the ground, messing up his grill with your belt buckle. HAHAHAHA! TAKE THAT YOU LITTLE DELINQUENT PUNK!

That's mess up for what they did.. :???:

You need to make sure that their insurance pay for a new paint job.

This kind of people need to have more responsbility for their action.

What happen if the same situation happen to them? Are they just
going to let it go? I don't think so.

holy ****! i really don't know what i woulda done. especially if i was in the mini and seen some fat-*** spoiled brat do some WWE move in slow mo right ontop my mini. maybe i woulda screamed, "so you like wrestling, eh. how's about i body slam you on top your momma and poppa's car?!" or maybe "pick on a car your own size...like your momma's suv." then proceed to body slam him on the suv.

but probably the most logical thing is to check for video proof of what happened. or put an ad in the paper for witnesses to this outrageous act. otherwise, without proof or witnesses to back up your claim, i'm afraid you'll somehow lose out and end up paying out of your own pocket ultimately - whether it's straight out or thru higher premiums. after all, it's kind of an outrageous story that would have many people scratching their heads. plus, there's 3 of them vs. only you.

good luck. if things don't work in your favor, then i'd probably resort to some of the good payback methods described already.

The moral is that "next time" something like this happens, you get their insurance info (along with name, address, and phone number). If refused, you pick up the cell phone and call 911 to get a cop. You ALSO start screaming at passerbys for witnesses. This may seem excessive, but it WILL get you an on-the-scene police report (and therefore all of the insurance info you need) or at least a police report (with licence number) of a "leaving the scene" accident. Either of which will be more effective in terms of actual reparations than blowing off steam here.

And, despite the delicious sense of retribution provided by Cat's suggestions (I love 'em for pure vengence), it should be obvious that they're also likey to get YOU in more trouble than not. You'll be found guilty of harrassment...and their fat kid's belt marks will still be in your hood.

Yup, it's the parents that need the (figurative) whupping. They did their kid wrong and he ended up doing the same to you. I believe in karma but also got a chuckle out of Cat's suggestions for hurrying it along.

Something I notice is that threads about harm inflicted on our Minis become long and hot ones. Often they are called our babies and we treat them that way.For my part, I would walk a mile not to park next to a potential ding: no molding on those nicely curved doors. I bought some magnetic door pads from BMW for occasions when it is not possible, and keep looking for new ideas.

This note makes me long for the days when I lived in Germany, where others' car are respected. I once simply touched one parked on the street and my friends redressed me saying you NEVER touch anyone's car you don't know. Hell, I am now tempted to buy a German Shepard that I can put on a long leash and tie to my Mini.

Add me to the condolences list. I wish you justice and repairs!

Things like this are why EVERYONE should have a disposable cameras in their glove compartment. Then you can take pictures immediately of the damage, the people involved and the other vehicle's license plate. That way they can't deny being there.

I have to say I would have been tempted to inflict twice the damage on their vehicle before leaving. Best of luck resolving this.

Let me add that these are the kinds of things that make me hate having kids around my car or my house even though it's their stupid parents' fault for not teaching them any respect.

I truly feel for you. I have been known to get unreasonably upset when someone is not careful in or around my Mini. Sorta brings out the worse in me, and that's not something for which I am proud. After cooling off, I realize that my priorities are not necessarily those of the other person and my anger hasn't helped the situation. Still... at the time... WHAM, ZOOM, STRAIGHT TO THE MOON!!!

God speed.
