I have had so many problems with my car it is getting rediculous. I have heard about some coopers being replaced by mini and I was wondering if anybody could give me advice on how to contact/ deal with MINI. I will list the problems if anybody would like to know. I used to love my car, but now I am the worst publicity for mini!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

I am sorry for the problems with your car. I hope it is not typical. Because I have a MCS on order for November delivery.

Best of luck.

What do you have, MC with CVT?
What is your list of problems that have not been fixed?
What is your list of problems that have been fixed?

DO keep good records of the problems and your attempts to solve them.
Do go and see the service manager to tell them of any problems not fixed.

My first MINI was repurchased by BMW/MINI under the California Lemon Law. It was handeled quickly and BMW was very good about it. I turned around and took my settlement money and got a new MINI.

My lawyer was GREAT, and I thanked MINI USA for how well they delt with this whole thing.

My lawyer is part of a national network of the top lemon law lawyers in each state. I only delt with mine but here is the network:

Anymore questions, just ask.

BTW, yes my first one was a CVT, got an S now.

All the problems they can diagnose have been fixed.
Here they are:
power steering failed twice
coolant overflow tank replaced
tailgate latch mechanism reprogrammed
halfshaft replaced
airbags have gone off, new ones installed w/ new sensors
more... but I can't remember right now...

it's also been known to make funny noises when the clutch is released, can't duplicate for service though
lost a lot of power and doesn't drive like it did when I got it a year ago.

My dad and I are contacting the president of mini to discuss this situation today or tomorrow, so hopefully we'll get good news!!!

Did they buy it back or replace it? MINI offered to replace mine but they want me to pay $1200 for miles on the car and are charging double the miles of where the problems started. My lawyer is suggesting I take it. I am thinking of fighting it in court and continuing. How did yours go? I have a lawyer also through a lemon law network.

Ducky,

so sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope MINI does the right thing by you and you become a very happy MINI owner. I know Technomage and can vouch for his experience. He seems a MUCH happier MINI owner with his S!

Mr. MINI, a number of people got bad MINIs, but the majority of owners did not. There were a lot more issues with earlier builds; most of them have been sorted out by now. For the record, I've got a Jan. '03 build MCS, and she's been about as close to perfect as can be. A few minor issues, all of which were promptly fixed under warranty.

It helps to read boards like this so you know what to look out for - and get it fixed early. Also realize that a lot of people who write about issues on boards like this are in the minority - the folks like me who don't have issues don't make a point of writing about how wonderful their cars are mechanically! Hmmmm, maybe I'll start a thread like that; there hasn't been one in a while...
