I have found that driving my Mini has made my right leg a little numb. Is there anyone else with this issue, and anyone know of any solutions. I am about to go out driving in my neighborhood trying different workable seat positions.

Try moving you wallet to your left pocket.

I found that this happened to me when the seat-height-adjustment was too low and, therefore, the seat was tilted back. This resulted in the lower portion of the seat to hit the underneath of my thigh and cut-off circulation to the extended leg. Try lifting the seat height.

Xanthus, lucky for you the seats have many adjustments, but the wallet thing... Of course, if you've bought the mini... and have gotten mod fever... there's nothing in your wallet. I'm 6' and keep the seat lowered all the way down. I would guess most drivers keep the seat lowered, am I right?

Interesting that you say your right leg. Do you rest your right leg against the down tube (the silver/anthracite tube beside your radio)? I have found that this sometimes causes me to have a numb or pressure-point sensitivity in my right leg.

See ya,

I have the same experience, but it usually takes quite a bit of time behind the wheel before I notice. I'm just glad I have cruise control for the long drives.

The first thing I do is throw the wallet in the door pocket.
I do make regular visits to a "Bone-Cracker" , leg and or arm right side will go numb.
I found that putting the seat backs almost straight up helps. this feels akward at first, but got used to it.
It's kinda funny, when you first get in the car, My "S" seats feel better than the coopers, but on long runs, it's the "S" that plays havoc with my right leg.

your right leg? This is a mystery to me, even taking the car on long trips. If you're sitting correctly (seat high up, seatback upright, and appropriately close to the pedals/steering wheel) you shouldn't have any issues with numbing or severe discomfort. Proper posture is very important

I have thinned out the junk in my wallet, but that seems only to be a part of the issue. I do rest my leg to the right against the pole thingy, but that simply aggrivates it, but it is not the only cause. I am currently working on the seat being high in the car with the back up. It seems to help, but I will not know untill I take a day off of driving to get my leg feeling back to normal. This IS the first actual car I have driven, save for vacation rentals.

I think also it could be the angle of the bottom seat. A few years back I had a Prevost motor coach. After driving the coach about 100 miles or so, my right leg would start to tingle and I found that if I moved the angle of the bottom seat to more of a level angle, instead of a upward tilt, my leg felt normal.

As far as I know the bottom seat in the MINI cannot be adjusted as far as the angle goes, just up and down and front to back.

So far I have not had a problem with the seats in my MCS. I found also if you really drive hard into the curves, your butt slides around a little and that perhaps helps keep the ole leg from going numb. Just a thought.

I have to say, I have this issue too. But to be fair, my Lexus gave me the same problem. I just got used to stopping every 100 or so miles for a stretch. No big deal...

I don't have the numb leg problem, but I do occasionally have a problem with my bum rib that pains me when I drive too long. I find that the cure is vary my seating position often. The only vehicle that I have driven since injuring my rib that doesn't give me this problem from time to time is my Nissan Frontier.

I was experimenting with my seat height on the way home tonight, and it seemed like as I raised and lowered it, the angle of the bottom seat changed as well. That doesn't mean the perfect combination is there, but play with it.

During a long trip, the wallet is the first thing to go into the console, door, wherever, just so long as it's not my back pocket. What a difference it makes!!!

I currently drive a Honda but get the numb leg. I found it stopped when I moved the seat forward just a bit so my leg has a little bend at the knee. I know I'm wearing out the heels on all my right shoes.... but I'm not putting the pressure on the underside of my knee.

and ps - Don't forget to post some photos of your new MINI!!!

I noticed while on long drives my right lower leg rests up against the middle consul downtube. If your leg rests against this tube too much or too hard you will restrict blood flow to your leg causing it to fall asleep. Its actually worse in my wife's Saab 9/3.

I am 6' 4" and the seat pretty much has to be at its lowest for me to drive the car. Like many small cars they just are not made with the correct proportions. I may replace the seat if it gets bad. Though I hate to do that.

Here's an interesting article about driving position in a mini!
http://www.car-seat-data.co.uk/ananlysis.htm

Personally my left leg is numb not my right- but that's just because I have a herniated disc giving me sciatica all the time. Oh well.

Are you running Nitrous? Maybe a leak into your interior. Course then prolonged exposure would cause more than just your leg to go numb.

Seriously, try a different seating position, and have your blood pressure checked. You can never be too healthy.
