Extended Warranty

I have read a lot of CVT version owners advising to get an extended warranty. How about the 2006 MCS with automatic transmission? Are there issues with this transmission (or any other components) where an extended warranty may be advisable?

The Aisin built auto in the "S" models has generally proven to be very reliable and has far fewer problems than the CVT.

We purchased the extended warranty when we bought the car and it has paid for a water pump replacement (7.5 hours of labor!)

what year is your Mini? After how many miles did your water pump go out?

Thanks!

i have an 05 mcs auto and took it a to mechanic since my tranny was slipping a bit and he said it needs to be rebuild or replaced, 53,000 miles on it and it would cost 4800 to rebuild, bought the car from a private seller, warranty expired 4 yrs or 50000, gonna replace the fluid first to see if that helps, if i were you, get the warranty just in case unless you have 7000 saved up for a new tranny.

yea auto 6spd, bought it at 50,800 i think, about 4 to 5 months back and didnt notice anything at that time, maybe a little slipping, but yea got the guy to drop it down to $10,000, car was serviced at the dealer close by and had most of the maintenance done including the transmissions service (supposedly). hopefully its nothing internal but a bad fluid, cant wait to see if that will do the trick.

Bummer. Please keep us posted. $10k is a great deal. I think I paid too much for my '06 MCSc PW @ $17k. It had just under 30k miles, Sports, Premium, Chrono, Cold Weather, H/K, iPod, and aero kit. There just weren't a lot of options out there and they hold there value so well.

yea i will, hopefully i will get the fluid this week and ask my buddy to do it over the weekend if hes not busy, mine is pw as well, it has the sports, premium and chrono, no h/k, i got the aux kit myself and no aero kit, although would love to have one. i got lucky but then not so lucky if the tranny is done, but we shall see on top of that i had to pay 1000 for tax so 11,000 it was

'06 MCSa - pump was leaking and replaced at 27,500 about four months ago. No other problems since it was purchased new.
