R50/53 Battery dying on 04?
not to be rude, but for the 18th time, its not the amp. when the amp is disconnected completely, same symtoms....
man the one i got on ebay, he emails me AFTER i win the auction, and says hes out of town until monday. i emailed him and was like WTF so its not even getting SHIPPED til you get back MONDAY????
no response yet so i guess hes out of town already.
oh well ill wait, becuase my new tire wont be here until monday or tuesday most likely anyways.
im driving around an excursion v10 (like 10mpg) and a scion xb (nearly 30mpg) until the MINI is fixed hahaha
but i agree on the starter giving up. it kept getting worse, now it doesnt start, just clicks a little..it most likely was going bad. its been raining nearly EVERYDAY
but i dont drive through water, minus that ONE time i had no other choice but to...maybe something soaked in, or just getting splashed,etc...who knows..

Man, this thread was a drudge to read. If I ignore the crap, it's about 10 helpful posts.
Pimped - go with your gut, you've got the right answer in hand. Based on all of the tests you've done, the obvious answer (Occam's razor) is a worn starter. It is probably the front bearing or rear bushing being worn out enough to cause the armature assembly to drag against the side of the starter case (very rough description).
At best, a normal 1 or 1.5 KW starter shouldn't drop the battery voltage below 9.5v. Change the starter and end this goat rope.
The good Dr. had the answer way back when.

now it starts but its still sluggish...it most likely wont start tomorow, i push started it in 2nd gear and it started up, and after that it starts with the key, again, sluggish.
its gotta be the starter...taking it to a shop tomorow...dont have time to troubleshoot any further...
