I concur, it is either the starter, or the amperage output of the battery is extremely low. Keep in mind you can have a battery that has few amps and semi-normal volts.

Any chance of disconnecting that "small 2-channel amp" as a diagnostic?
If it's On and charging it's own internals during starting, it could be dropping the voltage enough to slow the starter down. Note that all the factory electrical accessories are turned Off during starting, to lessen the battery load.

While I know you're just having fun...
bringing all this other stuff up, fact is that Pimped tried both a used and a new battery and it didn't fix the issue. Scientific explanation or not, it's not the batteries.....
