A few days, but I bought mine used. Test drove an "S" at the dealer and fell in love with it. Was told I needed a $1000 deposit and 1 year wait. Decided not to do that and searched newspapers and online for a MCS. Found one below MSRP with all the package combos and color that I wanted a few states away. Waited several days to get bank financing and drive down to get it.
Ordered June 19
Mini Cooper
Keeler MINI Latham, NY
Produced July 26
Delivered August 29
Would have been here sooner , but spent 2 weeks on the docks waiting for a backlog of cars to clear the VPC.

Thanks a lot everyone! I ordered my MINI Sept. 4th, and the dealer says I should have it in time for Christmas. Talk about a great Christmas present! Thank you Santa!!!

When can you get a production number from your dealer. My dealer tells me my MCS won't be available till Feb-Mar of 03. :???:
I'd like to join the owners lounge but I'm not sure if they will have a production number at the dealer yet.

Generally, dealers don't get their allotment for an upcoming month until about 5 or 6 weeks before. So with Feb-March delivery, expect January build. So possibly by Thanksgiving you MAY have a Prod #.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but the general subject seems timeless (so to speak) on this board
Reading the previous posts on this thread, it seems that almost everyone who took delivery of their cars in late August/early September had a wait of between 2 to 3 months.
I've just scheduled my pickup appointment with my dealer, and assuming that holds, my pickup date will be exactly 2 months and 2 days from when I placed my order. Interestingly enough, 2 weeks of that time was spent sitting on the dock in NJ and 1 week sitting at the dealer waiting for paperwork. It seems that both of those circumstances are a bit unusual and had to do with the flood of cars received at the NJ port at the end of August.
So, that said, I'm wondering about the validity of so many current dealer claims (reported in various posts) that MCSs are taking "6 months" or "a year" to deliver. This just doesn't seem supported by evidence, and such long order times would seem to be more the exception than the rule.
Maybe the folks who have just ordered, or who are considering ordering, should take heart...maybe your wait won't be as long as you think.

Our ordering/delivery went extremely smoothly and way ahead of schedule:
1) Placed order: 6/30/02
2) Received production number: 7/10/02
3) Car built: 8/7/02
4) Car loaded onto the Tanabata vessel: 8/8/02
5) Car reaches Charleston, SC Port: 8/22/02
6) Car is accepted by the VPC: 8/23/02
7) Car reaches dealer (Lauderdale MINI in Ft Lauderdale, FL): 8/26/02
MINI is finally delivered to us this past Saturday 9/7/02 (We were on vacation out of town for a couple of weeks, that's why we got the car until 6 days ago).
We ordered a standard Cooper with just CVT and Multifunction steering wheel as extras. I think this aided to quckly expedite the order. I have read about order delays for those who ordered their MINIs with Xenon lights, DVD Navigation, Rain sensing wipers, Harmon Kardon stereo, etc.
Having lots of fun!

I dunno 'bout that. I just ordered my red minimocha cvt at East Bay MINI (Pleasanton, CA) over the labor day weekend, and they told me I probably wouldn't see my car until May or June! That's a long wait, and, not to get all gross on ya, but I could have a BABY sooner than that. So now I'm debating whether or not I should just plop down the extra $1000 or $2000 that other Bay Area dealers are asking for to have it by December, or just visiting the folks over at Salt Lake City just to have my car 3 months sooner than Pleasanton's projected delivery date. Tough decision... :???:
