LED installation question

Hello guys!

I would like to install some LEDs inside the door pockets and thinking of getting two of these (one per door).

I have absolutely no knowledge in installing these so um, what else do i need? and is there a link for DIY sites that u know of?

http://cgi.ebay.com/Amber-Car-LED-Wa...QQcmdZViewItem

Check out Oznium.com for installation details on similar products
If you just want it on at night you can probably connect it to the "door handle lighting

Second Oznium.com! Alot more reliable then an eBay listing in my opinion. Great customer service and fast shipping. Great products also. I'll be making another purchase soon for some interior LEDs for myself.

Easy install for an 06. Like bad_venge stated you could tap into the door handle light or the puddle light that is on the bottom or the door for power.

And do a quick search here on NAM and you'll get a lot of answers.

Check out the Interior and Exterior Forum

And here is some more help. ImagoX went further then you originally want to but is quite helpful.

ImagoX - Door Mod: LED Puddle Lights and Map Compartment Light

Should be pretty simple to install. Personally I think 2(Per door, 4 total) 5mm Pre-Wired LEDs would work more then better for the Map Pocket. I'd put one on each end of the map pocket pointed upwards and inwards toward the middle. The only other things you would need would probably be some extra wiring, wire cutters/strippers, and some screw drivers. Do you know how to remove the door panel?

no, it's definitely going to look like it came from the factory.

Here's a photo of my door skin when I put in my "puddle lights" and door pocket LED. the LEDs are all 5MM pre-wired LEDs from Oznium - just wire them into 12V direct - no additional resistors needed, provided you wire them in PARRALLEL (which is best anyway - that way if one burns out, the rest keep on glowing).

To install the LEDs, I used a LED holder from Radio Shack (goes in a 1/4" hole) and sealed it to the plastic with silicone for strength and water resistance.

Wiring-wise, if you already have courtesy lights in the doors, you can splice into them with vampire taps (also called piggy-back taps sometimes) - they clamp onto the existing wires and allow you to add a second set of leads. LEDs draw so little current that adding a few extra to the circuit won't stress the existing fusing.

Here's what mine looked like after installation:

looks good, what power source did you tap into for the footwells? I'd like to try it with the red strips.
