Rear Seat Delete Kit

Has any one removed their rear seats and installed this kit so that you have more room?

I just drive around with the seats down so I can hear more exhaust...
if need be, then I put them up to stuff the odd person back there for short hops.

Sure have ...

Got mine from Helix.

When installed we added some sound deadening material both to the underside of the tray and to the exposed sheet metal under the tray. Make sure you trim around the access points to the fuel tank incase one day you need to access them. I figure if I spend the time now and trim around the ports I'll never need to access the area.

my biggest beef with this setup is that, my friend has it, i always have great fears if i do put one in, and slap tires in there it will crack the fiberglass

anyone can alleviate my fears?

put some reinforcements under it, or make one yourself out of mdf or plywood

DIY Rear Seat Delete

Hello,
I just joined the site and am a new '04 R50 owner. It was inherited from my mom. I am loving it. I drive a RAM 1500 regularly so the Mini is quite divergent.

Anyway, I am planning on creating a Mini Truck out of mine like the Red Bull Mini without the can. I am going to try to stylize the body like an '55 F100. Wide body kit to mimic the stepside and Paulownia wood in bed for grain, water repellent and weight. I have templated my rear seat delete with 1/4 plywood and will shortly transfer that template to a treadplate form with hinge at the center bulkhead between back seat and trunk storage. The body structure is perfect to create the flat bed.

I am going to add a convertible "Tailgate" in place of my hatchback and seal the divide behind the front seats with Rollbar and Hatchback Glass. Gonna be a fun project. Looking forward to reviewing all the projects on the site and learning what you all have done to customize yours. I am not, at this point, soooo interested in creating a racer as it is already damn fast but I am going to build it as hippie surfer to commemorate my mom's love of free spirit and radical cool.
