Motoring Withdrawal

What's up everyone? I hope you are all out enjoying your Minis today. Sunday afternoon I took a nasty spill resulting in four fractures and the dislocation of my right ankle. Modern medicine is great however, and I'm now the proud owner of some new surgical grade titanium. I'm not going to be able to drive my girl for quite some time now though. To make matters worse, my clutch had actually gone out this past Friday. The dealership here in St. Louis (Autohaus BMW/Mini of St. Louis) gave me a shiny new red convertible to drive in the interim, but I can't even enjoy that. Plus its flurrying here anyway. I encourage you all to take the long way home one night this week, because if you're as crazy about your Mini as i am about mine, you'd regret not driving it a little more if the doctor told you that you couldn't drive for the next 6-8 weeks. Happy Motoring, All!

Sorry to hear about your fractures & dislocation - heal well!

As for your withdrawal, I see your 6-8 weeks and I raise you another 6 months!

man thats rough. I fratured and dislocated my tail bone on valentines day (caugh), and it is hurting me right now, so i know what your going threw (not to mention my broken pinky from about a month ago that still swollen abit). And i havnt drove my car in about 5 weeks, and have a couple more months to go before i will be driving it again. I am practically living on this site right now (cant work in this cold, so ive been home this whole week, and ran out of things to do, so ive spent the entire day on NAM (except for a few hours thismorning racing a mini on granturismo4, hahaha). I guess that will have to keep me sane for the next couple months. Get well soon, and take care of yourself, dont be dumb like me and try to tough it out. Its the wrong way! Beecher

I hear that Beecher, but it really sicks for you thats a damn long time to go w/o driving. I keep surfing the forums and they keep giving me ideas, lol. The only good thing is the amount of Percocet I'm on makes me sick if I stare at the computer screen too long, lol. I'm bummed I cant do much, but I'm coming up with prospects for when I get better and when I get my mini back. Hang in there. Dislocated tail bone on valentines day though huh? My hat is off to you sir, it must have been one festive day!

hahaha. Yeah, thanks to the cold and lack of work because of it, and living on here with nothing else to do, i have bought KWv2 comp coilovers, hsport camber plates, jcw cf dash, aerokit, jcw spoiler, jcw soundkit, jcw cf boot handle, and jcw gp car cover, all since the second week of nov. Ill warn you to limit you time on the internet and NAM in particular, otherwise you will spend all your money like i did because you have nothing else to do but shop and buy mini stuff. hahah. It is a long time to go without driving the mini, but i do it to myself. I have so much solid and aluminum in my suspension that the salt they put on the roads around here would eat my poor baby alive, so i just put it in the garage, and keep it nice. One day i will buy a winter mini, but for now, i drive my old beater minivan in the winter and save the nice cars for summer play. Not driving my car the last 5 weeks it totally my fault anyway, i stated taking it apart to put some of the stuff i bought on it, and i dont have all of it yet, so its dissasembled in the garage. Which is probably best because i only have a set of r comp tires right now, and it has been really cold, despite other wise nice weather, but for the tires sake i dont take it out, i dont think they would like the cold very much, and i dont think i would like driving on them in the cold very much. Ive had my car 2 years, in the first year i put about 21k miles on here, in the second year (actually, i think thats next week, the 15th i think i picked it up of dec 05), i put about 3k miles on it. This whole year has been withdrawlsville for me, so its not as bad as if i was driving all year and had to quit cold turkey. I got to be honest tho, i was tobogganing when i fractured my tailbone, slammed into a submerged tree stump. I guess im just lucky i can still walk, and should stop complaining about the extreme soreness i still experience from the incident. Beecher

Yeah thats not as good a story as I'd envisioned. I broke my back and pelvis two years ago in a car accident. I was lucky to walk again too. I'm jealous of the CF dash at least. Nice stuff you got. I wish I had the money for that kinda stuff... I Freaking love that dash kit. I'm fortunate that its Christmas time and I am forced to spend some money on other people too. Sounds like you have a sweet mini though. Good luck healing up thats gotta hurt like a *****, especially in that kind of cold. Sucks about your car though. It'd be hard to put up my Cooper for half the year. But I certainly understand the argument. Have A good night. Good luck installing all that. If you get bored though I'll take that dash of your hands, lol. Night.

Injuries are never good, feel better man.

I have been without a car of any kind since September 20th. NAM helps a lot. Being in Tokyo makes up for the rest most of the time, but I really miss my MINI. I return to nebraska in about 8 days, at which point I'll start missing my other girl.
