R50/53 weight of stock wheels...anyone know..come on i know you do
1st post (just an onlooker until now), I think, but...
I got a bathroom scale and weighed one of my star spokes and the reading said 45.5 lbs (w/tires). Crude, yes, and they were heavy. I replaced them with new R90's that were sold to me. They came UPS and when I looked at the tracking # info, each of the R90's were said to weigh 28 lbs (w/ tires). I thought this was weird. Once installed on the car, I kind of did think it was a slight bit faster (and definitly more steady on the road). Maybe it's just my imagination

Harmini, the R90's came with Dunlop SP 9000 DSST tires (the DSST means they are runflat). I have to say, though, when I went have the 16's taken off and the 17's put on I expected the car to be slower, right? But, I got in the car expecting it to lag more. No. I guess it sounds crazy, but it seems peppier now (nothing more than that). Maybe it just seems like that b/c it's more stable. And yes, UPS said 28 lbs. for one R90 with tire. 112lbs. for all 4. Odd, huh? Didn't get to weigh them on the ol' bathroom scale to compare though. They were already on the car.
