pulley install question

Hey guys i am really thinking about installing a pulley and am wondering about how much did you guys pay to get yours installed. I just want to get an idea before i get a price from an actual mechanic. Thanks in advance and any other advice is appreciated.

You can do a seach on here and find tons of info. Local MINI shop charges $450 installed (parts & labor).

get a jack, a socket set, a belt tensioner tool, a pulley puller, and a buddy for an extra set of hands. It's not too difficult and there are a lot of instructions online.

thanks for the advice ceo51378 but something like this i would rather not do by myself with or without a friend just because its something that could very easily go wrong if the slightest thing is out of balance. Intake's, brakes, oil changes, etc.. i can do but i just wouldnt be comfortable with something as "complex" as this. I do appreciate your help though. $450 including parts/labor is not to bad for around a 20-25hp increase.....

Zahntech (Redmond, WA) is where I'm planning on having mine done. PSMini group members report good service and ~$140 for the job if you have the pulley, which I do. For an experienced mini shop, it shouldn't be that much of a job since it is a very common mod.

Where are you located? There's a good chance that someone here can recommend an experienced, reputable installer.

Also you can try and hit one of the major MINI events and chances are there is someone there doing installs... Check out the events on NAM...

Where are you located anyway?

I did mine 2 weeks ago here in Douglasville, Not gonna lie it is very involved. Took me 5 hours but I wanted to make sure everything went smoothly so I had no issues. I decided I din't want to pay to have mine done.. bought the removal tool and tensioner tool plus the pulley and belt and all at once. The tensioner tool is a good thing to have even if you are going to have someone else do the install. That way you can change your own belts super easy.
