I configured my '03 Pepper white/Black (black bumper inserts) CVT non-sport pkg. (standard 15" non-run-flats) with black cloth SPORT seats with seat heaters; sport leather wheel. First the seats: My share of German cars . . .and these are the most comfortable. Amazing side bolster support; great lumbar . . .and the cloth stays cool. Soft as a fine 330 count duvet on a Swiss down comforter. Fabric is very "Austin Powers:" Whim; wierd; quirk and fun. Next up . . . the new sports wheel with the "Thumb lifts" and perforated leather is the perfect adjunct to the whim seats. Feels very correct . . .and very special. These seat heaters are the fastest, strongest I've felt. This car continues to run perfectly . . . . And I love this board . . .except for the fact that there are so many issues I've prepared myself for: windshield problems; stalls; stumbles; leaks; crappy A/C. I'm always on the look-out. Meanwhile . . . .the car cools like the Good Humor truck in temps above 90. May '03 production. Peter

I have the Space Cloth in my "S", and I love it. The seats themselves are THE most supportive I've ever owned (not counting race shells).

Glad to hear you're enjoying your beautiful PW/B MC! ...and always take the 'issues' you hear here with a grain of salt. Not everyone has these problems. Consider them a caution, but not an inevitiable aspect of ownership.

Motor-On,
Ryan

I ordered the cloth in my Pepper White/Black with sport seats because we found them more comfortable than the leatherette, and give the interior more character with the design in the cloth.

Motor On

I have the leather sport seats and unfortunately worst seats I have ever experienced, seat bottoms too short for my long legs, lumbar hits me in the wrong place and unfortunately have had broken seat frames on both the driver and passenger seats (since both replaced). If I drive over an hour, I have to get out and stretch because my back kills me...damn I miss the recaros I had in the bimmer. Maybe the cloth seats have a less severe lumbar support...if I drove for longer distances, I would definitely upgrade.....I was expecting more but service tech I deal with told me I wasn't the first regarding the sport seat issue.....cheers

Sadly, my MINI doesn't have the most comfortable seats I've ever had. That honor still belongs to the front and back couches from my 1961 Olds 98. But I find my cloth MINI seats to be well above average. Done 11 hour driving days on a road trip in them and came out relatively loose.

Ditto dominicminicopers. Nope here, too. My S2000 seats were infinitely more comfortable for me.

I have the lapis leather sport seats, and I find them incredibly comfortable! I've driven all day in them and haven't felt fatigued.

I'm very happy with my cloth sport seats. My "motoring advisor" recommended them based on dealer cars he'd been driving. Have to do lots more research on the planet Earth thing...but they're way better than any car I've ever owned.

I think it may depend on the size and shape of your butt!

For the record. . . I'm 5'9" and weigh in at 165. Also . .no sun roof option, hence I keep the seat at max height. Also . . .no extra load on the A/C.

Another "also:" I could tell you about the other cars I own . . . hmmmm. I'll refrain. Starts with a B and ends with an R. Also another car . . . .Starts with an S and ends with an L. 500. '03 I'm going to place the MC sport cloth at the top. Sport leather steering wheel in the same location. Top. Peter

Perhaps some of how a seat can work for us is based on how we are shaped physically- or how big or small we each are. I have the Lapis Blue leather and it suits me just fine. I don't have any long drives and I like how they look and feel. If I had a chance to do it over I would choose the space cloth but my MCS was in stock as a cancelled order from someone else (An orphan!) so I bought rather than wait. I didn't like the leatherette but it is easy to clean.

I just got my MCS today, I ordered the leatherette for ease of cleaning as well. Much as I'd love to baby my car, it'll be a matter of time before I'm spilling coffee in it. I too love the quirky European style fabric seats, the quirky patterns have been popular there for years.

I have the Space Cloth in my "S", and agree that it is comfortable and very supportive. It stays cool and seems to be a well made fabric. That said, the most comfortable seats IMHO are in my wifes Volvo S60 2.4T. They are almost like a La-z-boy recliner

I hate the sport seats beacuse they have no lumbar support! What's up with that? A friend's MCS with leather sport seats has an adjustable lumbar support!!
