R50/53 getting ready to hook up an aftermartket horn
getting ready to hook up an aftermartket horn
im getting ready to hook up some Hella Supertone horns in the mini, and im just wondering where exactly the stock horn is, and if i just remove it, and run those wires from the horn, to the new horns? its 2 sets of them, with 2 relays. would that be fine? is it just a positive and negative wire to the stock horn?
Yeah, should be a postive and negative and go. The Supertones are popular with the WRX crowd because they look sweet behind the grille in bright red. If you can just remove the factory one and use those, go for it. As for location, I have no idea but prolly up front near the grille/radiator. Aaahh, just get someone to beep it while your head is under the hood.
See a Bentley book or if you don't have one, see if you can borrrow.

if it a big enough space to fit 2 horns on each side? (1 pair per side)

lol thats for my explorer, since i have airbags on it, and already have the tank/compressors. i have no room for them in the mini cooper with the system i have planned.

Not a lot of room!
the stock horns are the coiled snail shell type and are pretty tight in there. I don't think there's much room, I had to modify the PIAA mounts and the like to get them in there. Also, you'll have to cut the connector to get them to hook up. Not a lot of wire length there either. But you can fix this after you snip!
As far as write ups, a lot of things start with removal of the front bumper cover.
5 bolts down under the lip. 2 Torx at the top of the cover. 2 8mm nuts that you get to via the wheel wells, one on each side. The fogs, turns and running lights are in the cover, so you have to pop the connectors for these on each side once you have the cover coming off.
