R50/53 My dealer is a tease >= (
Ok, so do dealers forget that we are able to track our MINIs ourselves online and know when they are lying??!! My MINI was aboard the Adia...arrived in NJ on the 7th and was supposed to arrive at the dealer (I live in Pittsburgh) on the 11th. The MINI site lists it as "at distribution center." I called on Saturday to talk to the dealer and he said he had no idea when it would arrive but that I had to buy my insurance policy for it right away. So...needless to say, I got my MINI legal and insured on Saturday! Well, I called today to check up on the delivery date and my dealer again claimed he had no idea. He actually lied and told me it was still on the boat and didn't make it to port yet. I completely called him on it and told him what the tracking on the site said. He said, "oh...well I haven't updated my records so that may be so. You probably won't get it for another week or so." A WEEK!!?? I'm so excited....I want to drive it home tonight! This dealer started out so good but once they got my money, they could care less...my rating of them had just sunk sooo low! :evil:
You can also call the 1-866-275-6464 and ask for the status of your MINI. They are more precise than the tracking site most times. If they say your MINI is at the dealership, then it's there. Of course they know they've delivered the car to the dealership, you think they'd lose track of an entire car? If your dealership still stalls on you, if they're not too far away, then just show up and look for your car. As long as they don't have to install stuff on it for you, then there's no reason you can't pick it up immediately.
The crappy thing that most dealerships will do is to not call you and let you know your car is ready to pickup for a few days to a week just so they can have another MINI on their (probably empty) lot. Why do you think some people pick up their MINI with under 10 miles on it and some get it in the high teens or 20's? They allow potential customers to test drive a car that is already sold! When I was at a Universal MINI before I bought my car, they offered me to test drive the prepped S sitting in the showroom with the "SOLD" tag in the window. I said, "No way! I wouldn't want anyone to be test driving my car when it arrives. That's not right," and they didn't even seem ashamned for offered.
Congrats on your new MINI! Enjoy!

I had a similar situation with my dealer, except that it was the opposite. They called me on a Thursday afternoon and told me my car would be ready for pick up the following Monday. I had been tracking my MINI since the order was placed, all the way through the shipping process. I thanked him for the call, but told him I didn’t believe him and that I wouldn’t get my hopes up. He guaranteed me that it would be there. I told him there was no way that it could be there Monday, since the ship wasn’t even scheduled to arrive in port until Sunday. A week and half later I got my car.
One question I have is Why/how are you paying insurance for a car that is not even yours yet? Until the paperwork is completed, you have no legal claim to the car.

My car was supposedly on the AIDA too and mine's not even at the distribution center yet according to the OL. I asked my dealer and he said it still at least a week to two weeks out. Est. Delivery date according to the OL is(was) 8/12.
This blows.

I know this sounds hard to believe, but my Mini came to me with ' 1 ' mile on the odometer. I took a photo of it cause it seemed too unreal.I was afraid to drive it off the lot at first. Then I took her for a drive to make sure everything was working just right. It seemed wierd to think she was so very new and never driven. Mrs. Chippy is the BEST!!!
All car dealerships are the same...no matter what you buy
...it gets even worse, once the deal is finished and you drive off the lot...look out..they couldn't care less

So, guess who called last night? My dealer to tell me my MINI has arrived! And of coarse no apology for being so clueless!! He asked when I wanted to pick it up and I replied "As soon as humanly possible!!! duh!" He's checking with the prep area to see how soon they can have it ready and calling me back. Keep your fingers crossed that it's tonight. I didn't order any dealer add-ons except floor mats so they shouldn't have to take any time installing anything. I'll let you know what happens!

All dealers are not the same, MINI of Concord is the best. I got a call while the car was being backed of the truck and told to give them a few hours while they prep and clean. That was the longest 5 hours ever. I go back and visit just for fun and to see what's new. Everbody remembers me and are happy to see me again, ask how the car is doing. Their service department is great. I had a problem with the alternator and it took a few visits to replace it but they were so gracious. I get reminder calls about appointments and ordered parts. There are donuts and espresso while you wait. I get the same service as the guy next to me who spent 75K on a 740. All dealers are not the same, there are a few good ones.

So minishooter when are you going to tell us what happened. :impatient
My MA never seemed to know what was going on with my car; I had to tell her. She did, however, tell me when it arrived at the dealer. I don't think they are trying to pull anything. I just think they look at it as, there is nothing they can do/have to do until it arrives at the dealership. Since things can ---- and do----- go wrong at VDC and during truck tansport, they'd just as soon not pay attention until the car is there.
