HELP! Time for new tires... Suggestion?

Guys and gals,
My 04 MCS has about 50K on it so I figured it's about time for a new set of tires.

Those run flat tires are just too expensive. Any other suggestions?

Any suggestion with none run flat

as well as

run flat tires?

Any good deals that can help me save some $$.... (low in pocket)

Any help will be highly appreciate!

Cheers
Andy

well i personally wouldn't go with run flats, only just because they are a really heavy tire...but other then that they are great...my snow tires are run flats. but if i were you i would look in to some Falken tires or something..i spent some where around 125 a tire for my BFGoodrich tires...and i love them!

Try Toyo Proxes 4 non-runflats and get a MINI spare for the back seat.

I have a new cabrio but will probably do what I did with my 04mcs coupe. I got Toyo PRoxes 4 tires (cheap, cheap) and got a MINI Cooper (non S) spare and kept it behind passenger seat. It will also fit in the boot if you angle it right or remove boot cover. The MINI space saver spare will not work in the 07 though.

After much debate I ended up going with BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 215/40/17s on our SSR wheels. The treadlife is holding up very well and can't say anything bad about them traction wise. Super sticky wet and dry. We did get caught out in a freak snow storm on night and didn't make it very far, but then again they are Ultra High Performance Summer tires.

I have the fuzion ZRI tires and they are pretty gripy the pirce is right i paid $87 a piece for them . They give my 04 mcs a softer ride than the oem tires did with out loss of performance. good luck!

many people dislike the runflats for their harsh ride. However, this is a myth. Its not the runflat part of the tire that makes it heavy. The Dunlop SP Sport 9000 (non runflat) in 205/45-17 is 21 lbs. The Dunlop SP Sport 9000 DSST is 22 lbs. Neither could be considered "a really heavy tire" in that sitze.

As far as a good non-runflat tire, I love my BFG G-force sports as well, I run them on my mazda3 (we still run runflats on my wife's mini).

For a summer tire, I really like the Michelin PS2, but have heard good things about the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 as well... (this is for non-track duty w/ occasional DE or AutoX.)

But then again, these are not cheap, but some of the best perf. tires out there... if you like twisties (and you probably do if you got a Mini

I went to discounttire and one of the sales person told me that those wheels which original equiped with run flat might not be recommended to be paired with non run flat. Reason is the wheel might not be as strong as those which equiped with non run flat....

What ya all think??

I think it's ********.
The OEM wheels are a little on the heavy (and thus sturdy) side, and
their lips should be perfectly ok with non run-flats as well.

+1 Kumho ECSTA ASX - I've had them for 15K miles and continue to perform very well in both wet and dry. Especially wet though compared to the runflats which lost wet performance as they wore.

Or if you want a summer only tire, Kumho ECSTA AST.

Both are reasonably priced ultra high performance tires.

My spare is a portable compressor and a bottle of Slime - so far, so good. I picked up a nail once but didn't discover it until rotating my tires and haven't had a flat yet. Though I might try to find a donut spare for peace of mind on long trips.
