Why so long at Rasmussen?
Why so long at Rasmussen?
I ordered my MC from Rasmussen in Portland early September and it's not due to arrive until the end of February. I only ordered a couple of options over the stock MC. They say I'm seventh in line, what ever that means.
A six month wait...does this sound right? I see other poster on the general list ordering after me and already taking delievery.

Scott,
6 months is not long at all for Rasmussen. I was there about a year ago and it was taking almost a year. I ordered my MC from Classic Mini in Cleveland. Took about 6 weeks. I flew out and drove it home.
They are great at Rasmussen, but if I had to do it again, order from Classic, go get it or have it shipped. Either way, you would be driving now.
My Mini is an 03, pepper white. I live in Wenatchee, WA.
Motor on!

6 months isn't suprising at Rasmussen. They just have more buyers than they do an allotment of cars. If you were buying an MCS the wait would be even longer.
We got ours from Classic as well. You could still order a car through Classic and get it before the end of Feb if you flew out and picked it up. The wait there is about 8 weeks. If you go that route, I _highly_ recommend Julie in their sales dept.
We ordered our car from Classic last Dec, and picked it up at the end of Jan. If we had gone through Rasmussen, the car would have arrived around Aug-Sept

Thanks for the responses. Looks like Classic has some in stock. 51 MCs, in fact.
I'm calling Julie in the morning. If they have one that's close to what I ordered[1], I'll just need to figure out how to get my deposit back from Rasmussen. Hopefully that's not going to be a problem.
Thanks again.

[1] MC PW/B, zenon, sport seats, cruise, that's it.

I live in Vacnovuer WA. I had a deposit at Rassmusen and decided to order my MCS from Knauz Mini near Chicago. I had no trouble getting my deposit back and I think they understand how frustrating the wait can be. I was told 11 months to a year at Rassmusen. At Knauz I ordered in July, it was built in August, and I received it the last week of September. It was shipped from Chicago by covered train car and I picked it up in Portland. John
Long Wait
Aloha-
Here in Honolulu 4-month or longer dealys aren't on-common. In July I looked into a MINI and would have had to wait until November if I wanted specific colors and options.
PTL that there just happend to be THE perfect Indi Blue MCS available on the lot. As it was I had to wait seven LONG days for the install of the Works kit, guages, and driving lights. Longest week of my life!
Locally the dealer here has a 34-car per month allotment and most if not all are pre-sold.
Believe me, the wait will be well worth it!

More and more dealers seem to have some used inventory now. It probably took a couple of years for people to start trading in for a newer Mini. In many cases the used ones are going for more than new ones. Folks avoiding the long wait I suppose. I lived in Kailua for a couple of years and enjoyed the windward side of the island. I did a lot of diving.

Rassmussen told me 12-14 months.
They said that since the convertible has gone into production, they are not making as many hard tops, thus extending the wait.
We bought our MINI lightly used, from a BMW dealer out in Ohio, flew out, and drove it back.
It was a fun trip.
Apart from the long wait to order a new MINI, Rasmussen is great. At least they are in the service department.

Part of the problem are the lack of dealers in the PacNW plus the car gaining popularity. I heard Tacoma had a 2 year wait, but dunno if this is still true.
Oh BTW MINI did not cut back the number of MCS's built (due to their high demand) to build the cabrios; it was the MC that got sliced in favor of cab production. Jimbo
PS even if I had bought my MCS at Rasmussen, Colorado would've still charged me sales tax at registration time.

Last I heard, NorthWest MINI (in Tacoma/Fife) is not taking orders for MCS's or MC's... only for the Cabrio's. They have apparently already sold all of their 2005 allotment and are waiting until they can get cars for people in under a year before they take more orders...
I guess since it is January, they may be taking orders for 2006 delivery now
It took me 11 months to get mine from Fife, but I needed some time to get some $$ together so it wasn't a problem.
