modded Jetta

No idea what the mods were but it was lowered with an exhaust that I could see. I could not pull him or him me at least up to the legal speed limit as we were bumbling along the interstate.

Any feedback this was a pretty strong car

Which engine? 1.8T or VR6?
Any suction sounds from the intake?
Usually VR6 have smooth acceleration and strong low end torque. And 1.8T is quite non-linear acceleration feel.

Either one, MCS should be all over it, unless if the Jetta is highly modified....that might be ugly

If you could not hear anything and it was modded with a exhaust then it was NOT a VR6. I taken out a many versions of modded VW's (Jetta, GTIs). If it was a VR6 you would of heard that engine...

I've been spanked by a modded 1.8T heavily modded, mostly at high end though.

I could not hear anything because I was listening to a book on CD at highway speeds. He had respect and was surprised at my car for sure......I think he was used to pulling away from most cars

If by "get into it" you mean some sort of racing, I strongly recommend saving that for the track and not the public roads . What the frack do you have to prove to someone that you don't even know?

REally the post was not meant to be about racing but rather the performance capabilities of a modded Jetta

Spider,

Who do think was more surprised by how closely matched the cars were, you or the VW? I know I would have been surprised that the VW could stay with an MCS with all your mods.

This just goes to show that you never know what someone else has under the hood.

In most states, racing is defined as a contest of speed or acceleration, regardless of whether you're over/under the speed limit.

OK...I admit using poor judgement and fluffing it off with my attempt at humor.......if you would like to flog me go ahead.......

Ok now that I am flogged

I was surprised by the performance of the Jetta which is why I posted.......

I wonder if the judge would buy the: "But your honor, it was no contest!!! I blew his doors off!" argument.

It's not about proving anything, or even winning. It's exciting, and fun. I certainly don't advocate street-racing as a practice, but the occasional stoplight to stoplight runs, keeping it within reasonable range of the posted speed limit, isn't incredibly unsafe I'd say. This is just my opinion, and like I said, I'm not advocating the practice of street-racing at all, just clarifying, that for myself at least, it has nothing to do with proving anything to anyone.
